As the video begins we find ourselves in the middle of a training facility, although it isn’t immediately obvious exactly where that training facility is. The camera slowly pans around the room that we’re in revealing all the latest high tech training equipment, from a state of the art new treadmill and cross-trainer for cardio to numerous different stations for weight lifting and strength building. We then hear the sound of a loud crash and the camera pans around to reveal that in the middle of the room is a wrestling ring, set up with crash mats all around the outside, and in the middle of that ring are David Helms and Zoe Sperling. Zoe is getting up holding her back and shaking her head almost angrily while standing over her is her boyfriend and SCW Supreme Champion David Helms who seems to be taking his role in this whole training session incredibly seriously.
“Oh my god I can’t believe you did that,” Zoe complains with a pout, rolling away from him as he tries to grab hold of her and pull her back up. “No, seriously! Why would you do that? I said I wasn’t ready!”
“You think Rachel will stop if you tell her you’re not ready on Sunday?” David asks with a steely look on his face. “You think those people in Philadelphia will understand if you want to take a timeout to catch your breath?”
“Those people in Philadelphia aren’t expecting me to sleep with them tonight,” Zoe reminds him before grabbing the ropes and shaking her head, letting out a little squeal as she does so. “NO!! I said I’m not ready yet!!”
“No rope breaks in the Underground,” David tells her, whipping her across the ring before dropping her with a hard shoulder block. She lays there on the mat, looking up at him angrily before David just sighs and shakes his head, walking over to the corner and grabbing a bottle of water. “You’ve got six days Zoe. Hell, when you think about it you’re pretty much losing Wednesday because of Breakdown, and you’re pretty much losing Thursday because of Thanksgiving, so realistically you’ve got today, tomorrow, Friday and maybe Saturday to get ready for this. That’s four days doll. Four days to get ready for the Underground. Do you really think that’s enough time?”
“I’m tired, ok?” Zoe tells him with a shake of her head. “You forced me to get up at 5am – 5am David, seriously – and you wouldn’t even let me stop to watch the stupid sunrise! You’ve made me do cardio and weights and I’m fucking exhausted right now and all I want is five minutes. Five minutes to stop and catch my breath. Is that really so much to ask?”
David sighs again and finishes drinking from the bottle before screwing the lid on and throwing it over to Zoe who catches it and takes a drink herself before slowly pulling herself back to her feet. “You didn’t answer my question,” David tells her before leaning back on the ropes. “Do you really think it’s enough time? I was impressed with your guts babe, truth is I didn’t think you’d actually go out there and make a challenge for an Underground match, and I definitely didn’t think that SCW management would sanction the fucking thing, let alone put the championship on the line. But having guts doesn’t help you in the Underground. If anything, it just makes you more vulnerable. You’re going up against a veteran of this division, remember?”
“I know,” Zoe admits before leaning on the ropes and almost collapsing. “She’s going to hurt me. I know that. She’s going to make this one of the hardest matches of my life. But you ask if I’m ready? Yah, I’m ready! You think she scares me? Well... actually, she does. Seriously, she even looks like a crazy person. At least Ducky looked normal... well, normalish. But just because she scares me doesn’t mean I’m not going to fight with everything I have on Sunday. I’m not going to back down from her or any one of her friends.”
“Yeah, well, you know if they get involved then we’ll get involved too babe,” David promises with a smile.
“No,” Zoe replies immediately. “No you won’t. Look, I know you think you’re being sweet – and you are – but you’ve got to promise me no matter what happens on Sunday you’re not going to get involved? I don’t want you guys out there. I don’t want you guys watching my back. I’m going to go out there on my own on Sunday and I’m going to beat her on my own!”
David just stares at his girlfriend for the longest moment before throwing up his hands in frustration. “You’ve got to be kidding me. Are you still talking about this? I thought we discussed it. I thought you understood what I was saying.”
“I did understand,” Zoe tells him with a nod. “I understand that you love me, and I love you. I understand that you’ve never wanted to let me get hurt. I know that baby. And I understand that what Alex said he said for whatever reason he wants to give, that you guys still all think we can work it all out and be one big happy team or whatever but that’s not what I want. This isn’t about what Alex said anymore, ok? This isn’t about Regan and me anymore. This is about me! This is about me going out there in front of everybody and proving to every single one of them that I can beat Rachel Frost!”
“You’re a two-time World Champion,” David reminds her. “You don’t have anything to prove, especially to Alex. Fuck Alex!”
“You’re wrong,” Zoe says with a shake of her head. “I know you can’t see it right now but you’re wrong. I want to do this on my own, so you’ve got to promise me that no matter what happens you won’t do anything until the bell rings. Promise me David!”
He takes a long sigh before nodding his head. “Fine, I promise,” he says before ducking under the top rope and climbing out of the ring. He walks over to a storage cupboard on the far side of the room and opens it up, removing from inside a pair of kendo sticks before locking the doors again and bringing the kendo sticks over to the ring. He slides inside, throwing one to Zoe and she looks at it like she’s never seen one before. “If you’re not going to let me help you physically then we’ve got a lot more training to do.”
“I’m not going to fight you and pretend we’re in Star Wars,” Zoe tells him with a smile.
“That was one time and Tommy and me had been drinking,” David claims defensively. “But this is just lesson one when it comes to weapons. This is the most basic weapon you’ll find yourself against on Sunday. You’ve got to get ready for this. So, hit me!”
“With this?” she asks before shaking her head. “No way, I’m not going to hit you with a stick!”
“It’s training,” David tells her with a smile. “Now if you don’t hit me I’m going to hit you, so let me ask you one more time. Hit me!”
“Nuh-uh, not happening. I love you! There’s no way I’m doing it,” Zoe says with a shake of her head. She doesn’t even move to defend herself as David whips her in the arm with his kendo stick and she lets out a yell of pain. “Ow, you fuck! What was that for?!”
“I told you to hit me,” he reminds her before hitting her in the other arm and causing her to drop her weapon as she lets out another yell. “C’mon, I’m not going to stop until you defend yourself.”
“Look, I could hit Rachel with anything and everything on Sunday, but I’m NOT hitting you. You’re my boyfriend, there is so nothing that you could say that’ll change my mind,” Zoe informs him with a shake of her head.
David turns toward the camera and sighs. “Want to help me out here?” he asks. “She’s your sister.”
“Just imagine he’s Rachel,” Tamara Johnson suggests from behind the camera.
“He’s not fugly enough,” Zoe replies with a smile.
“Ok, um... remember when he made out with Regan?” Tamara asks.
Zoe gives her a dirty look before smacking David hard around the back of the head with the kendo stick. He immediately grabs the back of his head in pain. “Ow, Jesus, what the fuck was that?” he asks, turning to look at her defensively. “Did you seriously just do that?”
“I’m so sorry baby,” Zoe says apologetically before smiling sweetly. “No time outs in the Underground, remember? Love you!”
“I’ll give you no time outs,” David replies, tackling her to the mat as she screams.
The camera moves slowly closer to the ring as Tamara obviously anticipates a fight between them, only to find the somewhat dysfunctional couple kissing instead. “Oh god, get a room,” Tamara mutters with a sigh as the scene fades out.
