The video begins and we see a hallway. It’s decorated with a few photographs hanging on the wall. Those photographs are of a young ten-year-old throughout her short life, a brunette former United States Champion who’s something of a Bad Girl, an English rapscallion and a blonde warrior. As we pause on the photographs for a moment the camera pans and we see that aforementioned blonde, four-time SCW World Champion Syren, motioning to the camera with her middle and index finger. “C’mon, come with me,” she says softly. The camera begins to follow her down the corridor as she walks. She opens one of the doors and steps inside. The camera follows her there as well, inside a bedroom decorated with pink, and around in front of a closet with double-doors that Syren stands in front of. She looks over her shoulder before pulling open the doors and stepping inside. We see what should perhaps be a walk-in closet in this bedroom that instead contains photographs, souvenirs and plaques commemorating a seven year wrestling career, and at the end we see a shelf containing numerous championship replica titles. It’s here that Syren stops, looking at the titles for a moment before turning to face the camera. “Welcome to one of my favorite places in the world. This, right here, is seven years of my career all in one place. It’s seven years of memories. It’s seven years of accomplishments. It’s seven years of… well, success. I mean, I don’t like to brag about it or anything, but, you know, I’ve had a few successes over the last seven years…”

She laughs before shrugging at the camera innocently. “Ok, maybe I like to brag about it a little. But seriously, this is where I keep everything. I know some people have rooms like this in their houses, they have display cases with their accomplishments for the world to see, but me? I like talking about my successes, I won’t deny that. I like remembering them. But I also like keeping this place hidden from the world. I figure maybe one day, when my career is over, then I’ll be more open with all of this stuff, but right now I like to keep it here, hidden away out of sight, so I can come here sometimes and remember,” she says with a smile on her face before reaching over to one of the frames, pointing at it and smiling. The camera focuses on the frame and we see what appears to be framed ring-gear. “I especially like remembering this. Do you guys recognize this? I’m pretty sure you don’t. See, this is what I wore on one of the most important nights of my entire career, yet it’s a night that most people forget even existed. This is what I wore when I went one on one with Taylor Summers waaaaaay back in 2009. The reason that most of you don’t remember that? It didn’t happen on pay per view. It happened on a pre-show. It happened on the Apocalypse pre-show. It was one of the most amazing nights of my life, back then. Every year, when Apocalypse comes around, I like to come and look at this frame and remember how far I’ve come since then. Back then I was Syren, unknown wrestler trained by Ivy Knight. Seven years later and I won’t be on the pre-show this Sunday, I’ll be in the main event.”

She takes in a deep breath before a smile stretches across her face for just a moment. She seems happy about that statement, but as quickly as the smile appeared it disappears, leaving her biting her lower lip and looking contemplative. “This Sunday I’m going to be where I love to be the most. This Sunday I’m going to be fighting in the main event of one of the biggest shows in the world, in one of the loudest arenas in the world, in front of some of the best fans in the world – and that’s not me sucking up, I mean, you guys know how hot the Brooklyn crowd can be, right? – and all of that should be lifting me up, it should be making me feel great, it should be pushing me to stand here in front of you, in front of this camera, and give you my normal speech about how I’m going to go in that ring, I’m going to fight the good fight, I’m going to steal the show and blah, blah, blah, only can I be honest with you guys for a moment? That’s not what this Sunday is about, is it?” she asks, taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly as a long sigh. “No, that’s not what this Sunday is about at all. This Sunday is about putting on a show. This Sunday is about fighting for survival. And you know what guys? That’s a pretty scary thought. But then my opponent this week has more than gotten in my head just lately. I’d normally be afraid to admit that. I’m not this time for one simple reason: James Evans is worth being scared of. I’d be a fool to say otherwise. I’d be a fool to claim that I didn’t fear him, didn’t fear the things he’s done and didn’t fear the things he’s capable of. I do.”

“Fact is I think a lot of you guys have noticed that already,” she says, nodding her head before letting out another sigh. “I’ve perhaps not done the greatest job in the world at hiding it. It would have been kind of hard to though, considering how many people have come up to me to warn me about James the last few weeks. First there was Amy Chastaine. She and I aren’t exactly friends but there’s no doubt that she’s one of the people I respect most in this business. She’s a fighter. So when she came up to me, she told me to watch my back, she warned me how dangerous James could be… well, I knew right there and then that this wasn’t just going to be any normal month. She was right to warn me as well. I probably should have paid even more attention. Unfortunately, I was focused on my match, on taking on Ace Marshall, on attempting to prove something against him, against the former World Champion… and that’s when James first decided to prove to me what kind of man he is. Like I said, I should have listened to Amy. I should have paid more attention to the warnings of so many people. They all tried to tell me the same thing: James Evans isn’t a normal guy. They say that he’s a psycho. They say that he’s remorseless. I’ve heard all kinds of stories about him over the last few weeks, some of which have actually sent a shudder down to my very core. I’m not going to repeat them all here, mostly because I hope and I pray that some of them aren’t true, but based on those stories alone I should have reason to fear him. I’m not dealing with those stories alone though, am I?”

“Like I said, it was after that match with Ace, after James caused the disqualification that ended the match, after James disposed of Ace Marshall for the second time in two shows, that he came after me. That’s a moment I’ve not forgotten. It’s kind of hard to forget a moment like that, when it could have ended your entire career in one move,” she says softly, with a hint of fear in her voice. “That night I was defenseless. That night I was out. And James… well, James could have stood over me, he could have raised the title up, he could have beaten me up, he could have locked me in the Twinge, he could have choked me out in front of the world, he could have done a lot of things to send a message to me, but he wasn’t trying to send a message to me, was he? What he was trying to do was hurt me. What he was trying to do was END me. And if not for Ace Marshall, if not for Ravyn Taylor, he might just have done that. Now I know the risks associated with this sport. I’m not an idiot. And I’ve suffered injuries at the hands of others in this sport. Everyone knows about my old neck issues, right? Regan Street certainly knew about them considering she tried to drop me on my head a few times at Rise to Greatness in order to put me away. As much as I hate that bitch, however, and as much as that bitch hates me, we were FIGHTING at Rise to Greatness, we were trying to prove who’s BETTER at Rise to Greatness, but what James tried to do to me in Seattle wasn’t about proving he was better than me. He wanted to hurt me.”

She nods her head softly. “That’s what he does, right? He hurts people. It’s what he likes to do. It’s what gives him pleasure. He likes intimidating them. He likes feeling their bodies break under him. He gets off on the pleasure he gets from seeing someone writhing in agony at his feet, knowing he was the one who inflicted that damage on them. He’s not a normal guy, Seattle wasn’t a normal attack, and right now I’m damn lucky I’m walking normally – or at all – after what he tried to do. It was a few nights after that that Ace started telling me stories about him. That’s when he really got in my head. And on Breakdown in Omaha I then got to sit at ringside and I got to watch James Evans in action. I got to see what he could bring to the ring. I could to watch the sadist at work. He didn’t disappoint. He punted David Miller in the head. He locked him in the Twinge. I’ve seen the video of Ace Marshall passing out to that hold a thousand times, but to see it happening in front of my eyes, to see the pleasure on James Evans’ face that he was inflicting THAT LEVEL of pain on someone… well if I didn’t think he was dangerous before I sure as hell did afterwards,” she admits before letting out another sigh and looking shamefully away for a moment. “The fact is that even that night, sitting at ringside, James scared me. He scared me enough that I couldn’t get in the ring with him. He scared me enough that I couldn’t stop him choking out David Miller. All I could do was stand there and watch until he chose to break the hold. And let me be honest with you guys, that image of David Miller being wrenched back and choked out like that has been seared into my retinas ever since.”

She takes a deep breath before shaking her head slowly. “James Evans is a dangerous man. James Evans is a remorseless man. James Evans is a dangerous psychopath who gets off on threatening people, hurting people, and claims he gets joy from people claiming he may be the devil. This Sunday I’m booked in a match with James, to attempt to take from him the prize he values above everything else right now, to attempt for the fifth time in my career to be able to call myself the SCW World Heavyweight Champion and you guys know what I think about him, you know how dangerous he is, you know what a loose cannon he is, you know that I’ve got TWO people offering to watch my back from the backstage area and run down the very MOMENT they feel like not just my title shot but my LIFE could be in jeopardy. You guys know what I’m up against this Sunday, so therefore there’s got to be a question that’s going through your mind: why?” she asks before pausing for a moment. “Why would I do it? Why would I wrestle him? Why would I dare to go anywhere near him knowing I could be next on his hit list, knowing that I could be the next one to be punted in the skull, to be choked out in the ring, to be driven into the crowd barricade, to be powerbombed into the turnbuckles, to be hurt, to be broken, to be decimated by a man who actually claims he might be the devil incarnate! Why the FUCK would I put myself in that position? That’s what you’re asking yourself, right? Why would ANYONE put themselves in that position, against a two-hundred-and-twenty-five-pound lunatic, especially someone like me? If I know what I’m getting myself into this Sunday then why aren’t I running, why aren’t I hiding?”

She pauses for a moment. A smile slowly spreads across her face. “Well, maybe I’m crazy. Or maybe James Evans is a scary, psychotic lunatic with impulse control problems and a serious love for seeing people maimed at his hands, maybe James Evans has packaged this up into one of the best submission style brawlers in the wrestling world… but maybe, just maybe, inside the ring, one on one, when I’m NOT being jumped from behind, when I can fight him, when I can face him down and I can compete with him, maybe the reason I’m stepping into the ring this week is to prove to the entire world that James Evans may be many things but that he is NOT the devil, and maybe, just maybe, this little blonde bitch is BETTER than him,” she says, the smile getting wider and the fear in her voice having completely disappeared. “Yah, you heard that right. I’m better than him. And I mean that in so many different ways. I’m a better person than him. That’s not going to help me much come Sunday, I know that, but I’m stating it anyway. I’m a better wrestler than him. That one is going to help me this Sunday. You see I don’t need to injure James when that bell rings this Sunday. I don’t need to match his psychotic threats. I don’t need to bloody him. I don’t need to break him. I just need to BEAT him this Sunday, and all that takes is three quick seconds in the middle of that ring. Seven years ago I did that. Seven years ago I beat Taylor Summers in the middle of the Apocalypse ring when nobody knew who I was and nobody thought I could. Seven years later and it just takes THREE SECONDS for the Best Female Wrestler in the World to become a FIVE TIME SCW World Champion… and that’s what’s going to happen this Sunday.”

She takes a deep breath, spinning around slowly in the closet, looking at everything around her and then turning back to the camera again with a determination in her eyes and focus. “Make no mistake about it you guys, I know EXACTLY what I’m facing this Sunday. I know the lengths he’ll go to. I know the damage he’ll want to inflict. I know the levels of pain he’ll bring. But THREE SECONDS is all it’s going to take. And I know how tough he is. I’ve seen the damage he’s taken in that ring, not just given out. It’s not going to be easy to get those three seconds. I know that. But if you asked Regan Street and Amy Chastaine before we went into our Iron Woman Match if I’d get those three seconds against either one of them they’d both have told you how impossible it was, and yet I pinned them both in the course of that match. So if, in one match, I can pin two of the best talents this business has EVER known, you bet your ass I’m going to give everything I have to get that same opportunity against James,” she says before turning and looking over her shoulder toward the four World title belts in a row and smiling proudly. “Yah, I don’t know how I’m going to do it, I don’t know what risks I’m going to have to take, but make no mistake about it guys this Sunday night I’m putting my body, my heart and my soul on the line against the so-called devil himself to show him I might be scared of what he’s capable of doing, but he should damn well be scared as well, because as good as he is, I’m coming to take that title he’s ‘become one’ with and raise it over MY head.”

“I know what that belt means to you James. I know how long you’ve fought for it. I know what you went through to gain it. Congratulations, by the way. I don’t think I’ve said that yet. Truth is, in all the chaos, in all the attacks and in all the threats about feasting on my flesh – I mean really? That’s just gross – the fact is that you did it at Rise to Greatness. You won at Taking Hold of the Flame. You cemented your spot at Rise to Greatness. You achieved that which so few have ever done. You won in the main event of the biggest show of the year, and that, sweetie, is something that nobody can EVER take away from you. But that title? That’s something I WILL take away this Sunday,” she says, nodding in determination. “Because as much as that title means to you it means so much to me as well. And I could stand here and tell you what kind of champion I see you as, I could stand here and tell you what kind of champion I want to be, I could make promises about what I’ll do but I’m not trying to win a popularity contest or run for office, so I’ll just tell you this: being the SCW World Champion is the greatest honor I have ever had in my life, and this Sunday I’m going to give everything I have to try and get that one more time. I know what you’re bringing, James. I know what you’ll do. I know how far you’ll go. I know what I’m risking. The question is, are you prepared for how far I’LL go, sweetie? This Sunday, Syren versus James Evans, the devil incarnate comes for me and I leave with what I’m going in for, as a five-time SCW World Heavyweight Champion, having shown the world you’re good, James, but I’m UNSTOPPABLE!”

She nods her head with determination before smiling once more as the video ends and fades out to black, and the replay button flashes up on the screen.

Apocalypse has come. As far as I'm concerned though this isn't the end... in fact, I'm hoping it's about to be the new beginning!
