The video begins and we find ourselves looking at a merchandise stand full of SCW merchandise. There’s plenty of light filling the area we’re standing in so we know straight away that this isn’t occurring after a show but mostly likely occurring before one. The camera scans over the merchandise stand and focuses in on a few items. We skip over the SCW foam hands, the t-shirts and baseball caps with the SCW logo on them, and even the custom SCW t-shirt with a German flag in the background of the logo, implying immediately that this shot is being filmed in Berlin, Germany, most likely before Supreme Saturday. We don’t skip over other bits of merchandise though, including shirts and baseball caps for so many of the top names in SCW. One of the ones that stands out most in this particular merchandise stall however is the merchandise for the current United States Champion Jake Starr. The camera pans over the stall one more time before we hear the voice of Syren from behind the camera. “Notice anything missing?” she asks in an almost downtrodden, depressed tone. “I mean, I know we’ve been in Europe for four shows now, and that could just mean that they’ve sold out because I bet you that they’ve sold out of a lot of different things. If you guys could have seen the atmosphere in London, or last night in Amsterdam, and if you could have stood in that ring and looked out over the crowd and could have seen all the different baseball caps and all the different t-shirts then you’d know that SCW, just in terms of merchandise, must have made a hell of a lot of money on this tour. And people buy this stuff because it means something to them. People buy this stuff because it represents their favourite stars. So you’ll understand why it’s hurtful then that all the stuff you’re seeing on here and there’s not a single thing for me.”

We cut abruptly from the merchandise stand to a hotel room. It’s dark outside now and the light that lights the room is clearly from a light bulb overhead. The camera is pointing at the bed and on the bed, sitting in the middle holding her neck obviously in a little pain, sits the woman who narrated our previous clip. “Hey everyone,” she says with a weak smile. “So you guys saw the little intro I filmed for this earlier today. I was just walking around before the show when I saw that stand and I noticed that while everyone else – including a lot of the unpopular guys – seem to have like twenty different shirt designs for sale it seemed there was none of mine. I didn’t ask why, I didn’t want to bother anyone really, and the truth is that if I’d found out there was a reason for it then maybe I’d feel different than I do right now, and then I’d need to think of something else entirely to say. You see the reason I filmed that, the reason I’m starting this off this way, is because I want to talk to you guys about something I’ve mentioned on Twitter lately, and something that’s driving me in to Taking Hold of the Flame on June 1st, and that’s opportunity. When I first started here this company gave me my first professional contract, and that was a huge opportunity. And I’ll always be grateful for that. I’ll always be grateful for everything they did in launching my career and giving me a platform on which not only to show what I could do but to improve, to train, to hone my skills and to make myself the very best that I could be, because for me that’s what it’s been about since day one. I didn’t start off my career thinking I’d be contented if I could just win a couple of titles. I didn’t start off thinking that I wanted just a couple of wins. I was thrilled with my first pre-show appearance, but that only drove me on as I wanted to make it to the pay per view.”

“And really, that’s what my whole career has been about. You guys know me pretty well by now, you guys know that I call myself the BEST FEMALE WRESTLER IN THE WORLD and I don’t do that as a t-shirt slogan – as you can see tonight they weren’t even SELLING my t-shirts – but I say it because I endeavour to do everything I can to prove it’s the truth. Now a topic was brought up a few weeks ago as to why it was phrased quite that way, why I say I’m the best female wrestler and not just the best. Well, let me ask you this – how do you define being the best? Is it the one who’s won the most matches? If you’re talking active roster then that’s probably Jake Starr. If you’re talking about most consistent over a long period then you’re looking at me. If you’re talking most dominant in their matches then you’re definitely not talking about me, I mean it took me forty minutes lately to beat Tommy Valentine, right? And no offence Tommy because you know I respect you but I’ve seen people beat Tommy a lot quicker than that. So I’m not the most dominant, I’m not the strongest, I’m perhaps not the toughest, I’m definitely not the most bloodthirsty, there’s so many things that I’m not when it comes to wrestling and I accept that. In a test of strength against most guys I’m going to lose, and when I get in to the ring against a monster like Blitzkrieg he’s going to pick me up and throw me all over the place because he’s bigger and he’s stronger, so how do you define being the best? It’s really hard to narrow it down, right? Like what’s the best team in all of sports? How do you compare one sport to another? It’s the same in wrestling a lot of times, how do you compare one style to another? But there are a few things you can compare – heart, resilience, determination and desire. When it comes to any of those four there is nobody in this business who can match me, I promise you that.”

“So every week, no matter where in the world we are, no matter what else is going on in my life, I go out there to try and prove that I’m the best. And every week, no matter what else is going on in my life, I do more talking with my actions in the ring than anyone else in this company can do in a million boring promos. So last week in England, where I didn’t have an opportunity to do any talking with action, I instead decided to interrupt the world’s most annoying manager giving another of the same, tired speeches. Basically, for anyone unfamiliar – and if you’re unfamiliar you have no idea how lucky you are, seriously – they all go like this. ‘Blah, blah, blah, my baby girl deserves title shots. Blah, blah, blah, my baby girl deserves attention. Blah, blah, blah, listen to me talking bullshit about how great my baby girl is, and my baby face is, and my baby doll is, and my baby boy is, and my baby potatoes are, and my baby carrots taste’, and for the love of all god don’t you just wish he’d shut the fuck up? I mean seriously, does ANYONE actually listen to those whole promos? In so many ways I’m so glad that there isn’t any serious competition for viewers on Wednesday nights because if it was Monday nights I wouldn’t blame every single one of you for tuning in to the football and never tuning back again,” she says with a sigh. “So last Monday I decided I’d had enough and I went and I told him to shut the fuck up. Ok, I didn’t use those exact words because, you know, children watch the show and everything, but that was the general idea. And I felt great doing it. I know there wasn’t a single fan in that building that came to watch Kelcey Wallace get talked down to by some ignorant hick, they came to watch their hometown girl steal the show and she wasn’t given the chance to do that. She’ll be given that chance though. She’ll be given that opportunity. And it’ll come right alongside mine at Taking Hold of the Flame!”

“And the reason that I’m a part of Taking Hold of the Flame this year is because of a distinct lack of opportunities. What I wanted more than anything in the world was the opportunity to walk in to the biggest stage in this business carrying the most prestigious championship in this business. I did it last year and it was the highlight of my entire career, but since that night not only have I not gotten a one on one opportunity to fight for that title but I’ve not even been involved in the title hunt. My last opportunity was with five other challengers inside the Elimination Chamber, and my next opportunity? Who knows when that’ll be! And every week people whine about how they’re not given a chance. Well I’ve been here FIVE YEARS and I’ve NEVER been given an opportunity to fight for that title. I wanted more than anything in this world to walk in to Rise to Greatness carrying that belt, I wanted more than anything in this world to try to wipe away the memory I still have from last year, and now the only way I’m getting that opportunity is if I beat the ENTIRE ROSTER in one night. So, to everyone who wants to complain about how hard THEY have it, I ask you how many Adrenaline Championship matches have you had? How many United States Championship matches have you had? How many World Championship matches have you been given? I can put my hand on my heart and tell you the answer to all three of those questions for me is ZERO because I’m the little girl who never gets picked, I’m the little girl who everyone looks past, I’m the little girl who EVERYONE thinks they’re better than, and yet on July 27th in Miami, Florida, I’ll main event my SECOND Rise to Greatness and I’ll walk out a THREE TIME World Heavyweight Champion. I vowed it on Twitter. I vow it again now.”

She takes a long breath, wiping her eyes for a moment before looking back in to the camera. “Yah, I’m getting pretty emotional at the moment, but then you have no idea how much frustration I have boiling up inside me right now. Lucky for me I have two chances to do something about that frustration; the second is on June 1st at Taking Hold of the Flame where I fight the entire roster AGAIN but the first is in Washington DC next week where I take on the former challenger for the Adrenaline Championship, Axel Porter. So, next week in the nation’s capital it’ll be the Best Female Wrestler in the World against a man who’s rumoured to be the Best at Everything He Does. That’s what I’ve read anyway,” she says with a laugh. “Now I’m not going to stand here and pick holes in that because a thousand women have tried to pick holes in the moniker I use and I know how annoying it can be. Instead I’m simply going to tell the world right now that anyone who claims they’re the best in this business gives me all the motivation I need to prove them wrong. Like I said before I’m not the strongest, I’m not the toughest, I’m not the biggest and I’m not the most dominant but this week I’m going to show Axel that when it comes to building momentum toward Taking Hold of the Flame there is nobody in this world that I’m going to let stand in my way! And I heard all the excuses that Axel made about his failed effort against Thomas Watson a few weeks ago. I heard that ‘lady luck smiled on Thomas’, am I right? Is that what happened? And it was a fluke, right? It could never happen again in a million years. You and Thomas Watson could fight a thousand more times and you’d beat him in every one, right? Yah, I’m sure. Remember when I said about interrupting the same tired speech? Well let me stop you right there!”

“You see Axel there are two things that really annoy me about people in this business. The first is when arrogant douche bags run their mouths and call every loss they’ve had a ‘fluke’, when we all watched on pay per view and we all know exactly what happened. The second is when pretty-boy assholes talk down to everyone else around them because they think they’ve got ‘god given talent’ and everyone else around them just can’t compare. So congratulations Axel because so far you tick both boxes! Do you think you’re special? Does talking down to all the ‘inferior’ people make you feel above all of us? I’m sure it does. And so the thought of having to face a little girl like me, that must insult someone like you. I mean, I’m no Axel Porter, am I? And thank god I’m not because honestly it makes me lose a little faith in humanity knowing just ONE of you exists,” she says before shaking her head slowly. “Now don’t get me wrong Axel, I’m very confident in my own abilities, but there’s a big difference between being confident and being arrogant. I know how good I am because I’ve fought through the rankings here, I’ve beaten just about everyone on the active roster at one time or another, I’ve poured my heart out in that ring and I’ve left blood, sweat and tears on that mat in the past five years. Even despite all of that though I know I’m not invincible. I’ve suffered losses. I’ve come up short in my goals. But every setback I’ve endured has made me stronger, every time I’ve been knocked down I’ve found the resilience to keep getting back up and I know that I will NEVER quit, that I will NEVER give up, that I will give EVERYTHING I have to walk out of that ring with everything I want and everything I dream about because that’s who I am.”

“But people like you, they just expect the world to stand aside and give them everything they want, don’t they? People like you look at the rest of us and think that you’re just automatically more entitled than we are! You’re not interested in proving anything to anyone because if you lose you dismiss it as a ‘fluke’; you dismiss your opponent as meaning nothing. Well this week what happens after this ‘nothing’ pins your shoulders in the middle of the ring for the entire world to see? You think you’re special Axel but you’re not. You’re just like so many other entitled little bitches in this business and I’m tired of all of you. I’m tired of everyone who holds out there hand and gets rewarded for it. I’m tired of everyone who runs from a challenge when they know they’re not up to facing it. In five years I have NEVER run. Now I don’t deny that you’ve got ability Axel, I don’t deny that you’ve got talent, but if you walk in to that ring with me this week thinking you’ve already won this match then it’ll be the biggest mistake of your entire career. And you’ve had a hell of a career from what I’ve seen. Ten years as a pro, god knows how many matches you’ve won in that time, how many championships you’ve held above your head, how many opponents you’ve left wishing they never met you. You probably looked at this match thinking you were going to go up against another girl just like all the ones you’ve faced before, but I promise you tomorrow night you’re going to find out that there is nobody else quite like me,” she says with a smile. “See other people in my position might dismiss this match, they might look at it as just another bump in the road toward what they really want, but not me. I view this match as a chance to get another win, to build even more momentum, and right now thing means more to me than that!”

“It’s been five years that I’ve been fighting everyone who comes along, five years that I’ve been giving everything I have in that ring, five years that I’ve been looked down on by the Shilo Valiant’s, the Jason Zero’s, the CHBK’s, and even the Silas Mason’s and Axel Porter’s of this world. I know how it feels to be viewed as nothing. I know how it feels to be ignored. I’m using all of that to fuel me this week because I’m tired of being overlooked, I’m tired of being ignored, I’m tired of the entire roster looking down on me and thinking that I can’t compare to them. This week in Washington DC I show Axel Porter exactly what I can do, and then I move on to Taking Hold of the Flame, I move on to an opportunity in one night to make my dreams come true or watch them get shattered all over again,” she says, pausing for a long moment before rubbing her temples softly. “It’s been a long trip. It’s been an even longer road. In five years I’ve given everything I have to be the best that I can be, and now I need to dig even deeper and find something more. I could just give up. I could just walk away. I could just be like so many others who’ve fallen from the top and given up before ever getting back there again. But I’m not like them. Wednesday night, Washington DC, I face another doubter and another man with his hand held out demanding opportunity be put in it, and on Wednesday night in Washington DC I move past him. He won’t like that. He won’t accept that. But I assure you it’ll no fluke. On Wednesday night I do my talking in the ring once again and I send a message to the world. I’m going to get back what I dream about every night, and if I have to fight the whole roster to do it then that’s just a whole bunch more people who can watch on and BE TOTALLY JEALOUS!”

She kisses her fingers before blowing the kiss at the camera as the video ends and the replay button flashes up on screen.
