The video begins and we see the inside of the home owned by Ravyn Taylor and Zoe Sperling – better known in wrestling circles by her ring name, Syren – in Malibu, California. More specifically, we appear to be out the back of the home, on the deck overlooking the ocean. Syren sits up on the railing, dressed in a Dark Fantasy shirt and mini-skirt, while it’s Ravyn Taylor who seems to be more of the focus of the cameras attention as she stands slightly further forward, a sly smile on her face as she starts talking. “Now it’s true that this particular video isn’t beginning in the way that either one of us here present hoped that it would a few weeks ago when Dark Fantasy stepped into the middle of the ring to defend the FFW Unity Championships. In fact it’s true to say that the exact opposite of what we wanted came true as those titles were ripped away from us,” she states before the smile on her face begins to grow. “But crying over the past will, unfortunately, make no difference. At Relentless you all witnessed daylight robbery as Dark Fantasy had our championships stolen from us. Neither Zoe nor I condone such robbery. Neither Zoe nor I intend to stand for such robbery. But after the event we had a decision to make, and two different paths down which we could walk. It’s the same decision that so many former champions have had thrust upon them.”

The brunette continues, obviously being the one taking charge of this, as the blonde Syren continues to sit in the background watching her partner with a proud look. “Whenever you fall in this business there is a decision to be made. That decision relates to just how much you want to get back up again. You see in that moment of despair that follows loss a critical choice is made. There are some who, in that moment of despair, allow it to consume them. These are the individuals you see so often. They are the ones who run from their problems. They are the ones who seek alternative paths. Most commonly in the wrestling business this results in these individuals taking their ball and going home. How many of us have borne witness to such individuals walking this path before? I think we all have, over time. Now while I can understand how they feel at that time, after all nobody likes to fail, such actions have always seemed weak to me,” she says before shaking her head slowly. “Then there is the other choice. There are individuals the world over who make this choice. That is the choice to pick yourself up. That is the choice to dust yourself off. That is the choice to loudly and without hesitation that you may have fallen but that will not define you. At Relentless you all bore witness to Dark Fantasy falling. Now you will watch as we rise once again…”

“I had to get stitches in the back of my head after Relentless,” Syren says, her tone clearly filled with anger. “Do you know why that was? No, it wasn’t because I was busted open in the middle of the ring during a fair and forthright match. That I’m ok with. Well, I’m not ok with it, I mean I never enjoy getting stitches, but when it happens because you’ve given EVERYTHING you have to give and your body simply gave out in some way during that, then at least I can accept that. That’s the same when it comes to losses. When I give everything I have to give, and my opponent does the same, and they best me in the middle of the ring in fair and honest competition then it’s hard to deal with that, sure, but I’ll still be the first one back on my feet and holding out my hand to them to say that on that night they were the better wrestler. What happened a few weeks ago however wasn’t about being a better wrestler. Ravyn’s already called it daylight robbery, but what happened a few weeks ago was that Dark Fantasy lost our Unity Tag Team Championships because of the use of one of those titles to practically smash the back of my head in when I was slammed down on to it, and weirdly I’m NOT ok with that! Now for a while I didn’t really know how to handle it. But then I figured out exactly how I – how we – were going to deal with it. It’s actually pretty simple. We’re going to take our titles BACK again!”

Ravyn laughs and nods her head in agreement. “Of course there are at the very least four individuals who don’t believe that,” she says, the smile on her face growing again. “They can’t allow themselves to believe that because they need to believe that they are going to be the ones who are going to claim those championships. And why wouldn’t they believe that? If you look at our last two matches as a team then Zoe and I have lost matches to the ‘One Woman Show’ and to ‘Rudo Galactico’, the team that have been named the number one contenders. Both teams will therefore tell you that it is they, and not us, who’ll be leaving with the championships in a few weeks time. Now I could argue that point. I could stand here today and give you a series of reasons why that is simply untrue. I could tell you that neither Zoe nor I are going to go down without a fight, that we’re going to do everything we have to do, even if we have to scratch and claw our way toward those belts once again, but rather than simply telling you about it I think we’re agreed that this week we’re intending to show you. This week the former Unity Champions get a chance to get back into the ring, get a chance to build some momentum, and get a chance to prove ourselves against one of the biggest challenges we’ve ever faced when Dark Fantasy goes two on two with Nightmare, Inc.”

Syren nods in agreement and takes over. “Oh, you are so right, this week Dark Fantasy has a hell of a challenge in front of us but you guys know by now that when someone throws down the gauntlet in front of the two of us we don’t back down and we don’t cower away, in fact what we do is STAND TALL and face up to whatever that gauntlet may be, and this week it comes in the form of two of the most accomplished wrestlers on the roster, Emma MacNamara and Katherine Stryfe, two incredible competitors, two accomplished wrestlers, a tag team with a whole lot of history behind them but most impressively of all a tag team both of whom can claim that they’ve risen to the very top of this company before and stood proudly as FFW Champions,” she says, the anger in her voice still evident but mixed now with a respect and admiration as she changes her focus away from Relentless and toward Velocity. “Now any time you get to face someone who’s accomplished that feat it’s an honour. Any time you get to face someone who’s conquered the company before it’s a privilege. And this week it will be a hell of a privilege to step into the ring with Nightmare, Inc., but we don’t intend just to be two little fan girls that the former champions get to walk over to prove how good they are. Oh no, in fact this week we’re seeing this as a chance to prove something to the world!”

The blonde continues with passion in her voice. “You’ve all heard me say it before, you’ve all heard me call myself the BEST FEMALE WRESTLER IN THE WORLD and you’ve all criticised me for that. But I’ve never backed down from that. I’ve never changed my tune. I’ve never tried to backtrack and say ‘oh, well what I meant was…’ because I mean exactly what I say. I believe in my heart that I am the best, and that’s why I get into that ring every single week. Sure I’ve been knocked down, sure I’ve been upset, sure I’ve fallen where I hoped I would succeed, but everyone has setbacks they have to overcome. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either insanely stupid or too arrogant to admit the truth. But those losses, those setbacks help us move forward. They help us find our weaknesses. They help us prepare for the next time. And this week both Emma and Kat know more than a little something about setbacks and losses, but I know both will be eager to prove that they’re that much better than we are,” she says with a grin on her face. “That’s fine with me though. I WANT them in that frame of mine. I WANT them bringing their best at us this week. I WANT two former FFW Champions to come at us and bring their very best, because THAT is how I prove how good I am individually, and THAT is how Dark Fantasy proves how good we are together!”

Ravyn grins happily. “Now me, on the other hand, I’m not a great wrestler, I’m not a former World Champion, and I’ve never stood at the top of any company before, so if you want to know how I feel right now then I’ll admit it, I feel a little out of place. How does one such as me, little ol’ Ravyn, possibly compare herself to two of the greats, and even to an FFW Hall of Famer?” she asks before giggling a little. “Oh, poor little me, I’m not in anyone’s Hall of Fame, am I? That must mean I’m doomed. That must mean I’m helpless. That must mean that there’s nothing that I can possibly do this week. These women have done it all. They’ve seen it all. They’ve overcome the kinds of challenges that little girls like me couldn’t possibly understand. And their arrogance will have them believe that as well. They’ll look down their noses at the two of us, like so many have before, and then they’ll step into that ring and they’ll quickly come to realise that looking down your nose at me is never the best way to look at me, because one moment you’re looking down at me and the next you’re looking up at the lights, trying to clear your head, with the imprint of my knees over your face. But that won’t happen to the two of you, will it? Of course not! You’re Nightmare, Inc. And let’s talk about that name for a moment, because I always find it humorous when teams give themselves such intentionally ‘threatening’ names.”

The brunette laughs and rolls her eyes. “Tell me, ladies, are you the creators of nightmares or is facing you the thing of nightmares? Perhaps a little of both, I suppose. I can imagine that many in the past have believed that as well. I can imagine that a great number of individuals have stepped into the ring with you in the past and they’ve succumbed to the nightmares they had the night before of losing to the two of you. It must be difficult for most to face up to this kind of challenge, knowing your histories. Katherine, for example, has proven herself at every level of competition not only here but around the world. A former Ultraviolence Champion tells us that Ms Stryfe is nothing if not tough. Former Unity Champion tells us that Ms Stryfe is capable of working with anyone, and when you consider the multiple tag championship reigns across different promotions alongside Emma then you know that she may work well with others but she works best with this partner,” she says, her confidence and the self-believe in her voice never wavering. “Then of course there is the FFW Championship reign, along with so many other records. A dual champion, tag team of the year, Grand Slam winner, the résumé of Katherine Stryfe likely does cause nightmares for her opponents, but for the two of us we don’t see a nightmare in our future, we see only an opportunity to prove ourselves.”

“You prove yourself by fighting the best. You prove yourself by beating the best. And by god, you’ve just heard of the résumé, are there many others around here right now who could better lay claim to that title than Katherine?” Syren asks, shaking her head. “It probably is a nightmare for most when they see they’re about to go up against her, but for me it’s a challenge, and I really, really like challenges. This is the kind of match I live for. This is the kind of match I long for. This is the kind of opportunity that gets me out of bed in the morning and gets me down to the gym to push myself. This is the kind of challenge I’ve been longing for since I signed on the dotted line, not just the title opportunities but the matches with the BIGGEST stars so I can stand toe to toe with them and prove myself against them, and this week that’s exactly what Dark Fantasy is going to do when we step in that ring against Nightmare, Inc. We’re going to step right up to Katherine Stryfe and we’re going to take her down to that ring. We’re going to step right up to her and we’re going to push her just as she’s pushed so many in the past. And when it’s all over, when the dust has settled and the smoke has cleared and it’s Dark Fantasy on our feet in that ring it won’t be us experiencing the nightmare of losing to the underdogs, it’ll be them.”

“But all truly great tag teams need two equally matched partners, and Nightmare, Inc. is truly one of those great tag teams. So it’s not just Katherine Stryfe that we’ve got to go up against this week but Emma MacNamara, a woman who freely tells the world she’s ‘not a nice person’. I suppose you don’t get to the top by being nice, nor do you conquer the Ultraviolence division by being sweet and kind,” the blonde continues before laughing a little. “So we know this week that Emma won’t be coming into this match looking to make friends. We know that she won’t be coming in looking to give us opportunities to upset her. But that’s fine, see I’m not expecting her to give us that opportunity, this week Dark Fantasy have every intention of TAKING that opportunity whether she’s willing to give it or not! Emma, however, knows exactly what we’re going through right now. She’s been in that unfortunate spot that we’ve been in before. She fought her way to her goal; she captured the Ultraviolence Championship, and before she was even ready to let it go it was taken from her, just like the Unity Championships were taken from us. Losing that title the first time you put it on the line is never a good feeling, is it Emma? And you more than anyone know how much that stings in your gut. So you, more than anyone, know then the motivation that the two of us have to bring it to Nightmare, Inc. this week and to stand over the two of you in the middle of that ring!”

Ravyn nods her head in agreement. “Oh I don’t think there’s any doubt that we have the motivation going into this week. We have all the motivation we need to cause the upset, and yes I do believe that this week Dark Fantasy winning this match would be considered an upset despite our recent championship reign when you consider the history of our opponents. The two of you know each other so very well. You know how the other thinks. You know what the other will do even before your partner knows for themselves, don’t you? I know how that is because Zoe and I are just the same. There is nobody in this world that knows her better than I do, and there is nobody in this world that knows me better than she does. We may have fallen a few times recently but that isn’t going to stop us,” the brunette assures the camera, a grin growing over her face again. “You see simply being Unity Champions isn’t enough for us. We don’t want to be wearing the titles and facing the little teams. We don’t want the easy path. We don’t want the simple matches. We want moments like this. We want opportunities like this. We want legends in that ring. We want icons in that ring. And this week we have our wish. This week we have the icons standing before us, and this week I will make a promise to you both that we have every intention of watching the icons fall before us.”

Syren smiles now as well. “Make no mistake about it ladies, this is a true honour this week, but while we may be fans of your work we’ve already said we’re anything but fan-girls. This week Dark Fantasy has a point to prove to the world, and that’s that the team of a notoriously Bad Girl and this blonde fighter aren’t anywhere CLOSE to being done. This week we’re bouncing back. This week we’re bringing everything we have. This week we intend to STAND TALL in that ring, and ladies, when FFW rolls into St Paul, Minnesota then you may have a ‘Cruellest Intention’ in mind for us but we’re planning a ‘Dark Domination’ of our own,” she says with a grin on her face. “We may not have the Unity Championships right now but we WILL get them back. There is one thing that you should know about us though. That’s that the theme music doesn’t lie. You guys may be ‘Nightmare, Inc.’ but we’re in the business of misery, and we’re intending to make sure you two are the latest to experience that. Don’t worry though ladies, we’re nothing if not respectful, and after this match – assuming we win – we won’t do the whole gloating arrogant bitch thing. That’s not really our style. Well, not anymore anyway. But after this match is over and we’ve walked away with our music playing loudly we may not be bragging endlessly about it but I promise you will both BE TOTALLY JEALOUS nonetheless!”

“We’re in the business of misery,” Ravyn says with a grin. “I like the sound of that.”

Syren kisses her fingers and blows the kiss at the camera. “See you Thursday night girls,” she says proudly. “St Paul is going to be rocking, and we’re stealing the show!”

Syren continues sitting on the railing looking confident as Ravyn nods her head proudly and the scene ends there, fading out slowly to black before the replay button flashes up on the screen.
