The video begins and we see the inside of a hotel room. The light is streaming through the window to the left of the camera, filling the room with daylight and letting us know immediately that the video is being filmed in the day time at least. The hotel room doesn’t stand out as anything special, but in the middle of the shot stands none other than Syren, dressed in a pair of dark blue denim jeans and a pink t-shirt featuring her wing-heart logo on the front. She smiles at the camera confidently. “Hey everyone,” she says with a little wave. “So, this is it. We’re in Brooklyn this morning and we’re only a few hours away now from the event we’ve all been waiting for. Tonight on pay per view around the world it’s time for FFW Relentless, it’s time for the biggest show I’ve been a part of yet and the one I’ve been waiting for more than anything, and I’ll be honest with you guys right now, I’ve been itching to compete again the last few weeks. Like, seriously, everyone who knows me well – like you guys will soon, I hope – knows that I don’t like sitting on the sidelines and watching. I don’t like taking time off to observe. I like jumping in to the action! Even when I was a little kid and I went swimming I wouldn’t climb in to the shallow end and wade out to test the waters, I’d take a running leap in to the deep end no matter how many times my dad warned me not to.  But that’s just the way I’ve always been, when I see action I want in on it, and for the last few weeks I’ve been sitting by the wayside and I’ve been watching and I’ve been waiting. I’ve been watching as we’ve seen the drama unfold. I’ve been watching as we’ve seen champions proving themselves, I’ve been watching as we’ve seen challengers jockeying for position, and I’ve been watching as we’ve seen everyone in the Chase for the Crown making their statements.”

“I’ve been watching for so very long, but the watching ends in just a few hours and I get to step in to the ring, back in Brooklyn – did I ever tell you guys I love this city? I do – to take part in the ultimate showcase for everyone hungry in this company, everyone looking to make their name in this company, everyone looking to make a statement for the future, to open up the eyes of the match makers and to say to the world that they’re the one who’s standing out from the rest,” she says with a smile. “Now I know I’ve gotten a little attention over the past few weeks as well, some of it good and some of it bad. I’ve heard my name dropped by opponents, I’ve heard my name dropped by partners, and I know some of them have been so very respectful and others... not so much. But you know what? It doesn’t bother me. It doesn’t bother me what they said about me, I’ve just got a smile on my face that they said anything at all, because that’s why I came here. I came here to be talked about. I came here to get an opportunity. I didn’t come here to sit in the back and try and stop Maddie from making huge mistakes with her career – by the way, that reminds me, about the chair attack thing? I’m actually really sorry about that, it turns out I really can’t leave her alone for five minutes – but rather I came here to further my own career. And like I said, people have noticed me. What amazes me though is who has noticed me because it’s not just opponents – you know, it kind of benefits them if they do notice me – but its other people as well. I was very bitter when I joined this company. I was angry about so much that’s happened to me, angry about people who’ve hurt me, angry about the work I put in and the rewards that I don’t get, but in just a few short weeks of being part of this company, and this is going to sound pretty lame but it’s the truth so I’m going to say it anyway, I feel like I’ve found a home.”

“I didn’t come here to be Queen Bitch, you know? You guys have had that before. It gets kinda boring after a while, right? Angry blonde bitch things she’s better than everyone and tries to smite them all,” she says before laughing. “Yah, sounds like so many people I know. And maybe that’s what I was. Maybe that’s what I used to be. But it’s not what I want to be. And every time I’ve stepped in to that ring so far it’s not what I’ve tried to be. What I’ve tried to be is simply the best that I can be. I’ve stepped in to that ring not to scratch and claw and bite but to compete, to fight and to win. And thanks to my match against Fujiko, a match that we tore the house down and a match where she proved to the world how touch she really is and she is every bit the opponent I knew she’d be, I find myself here. I find myself on the brink of one of the greatest tournaments that this company has, Chase for the Crown, and I admit that when I first walked through the door maybe I didn’t know as much about it as I should have, or I could have, but thanks to a little help from a new friend in the back I’ve been doing plenty of homework on it. And even though I wasn’t a straight-A student at school – actually, I wasn’t even a straight-B student at school, but let’s not focus on that anymore than we have to, k? – I enjoy doing my homework now! And over the last few weeks I’ve watched every moment of every one of these tournaments, and then I’ve gone and I’ve looked at each of the competitors in those tournaments from the past, I’ve gone and I’ve watched what this tournament has done for people’s careers in this company and it really has LAUNCHED careers before now. Competing in this tournament is the way girls in the past have gotten their foot in the door, and now my foot is in the door and after watching those tapes I want this more than ever!”

“So before tonight begins, before everyone decides to run their mouths, before people make promises that they’re not going to be able to keep – and I don’t just mean my opponents, I mean my partners too because even though I’m happy with the team I’m on, even though I’m happy teaming with the likes of Nessa Wall, Reiha Laine and even Nene Abruti, I know that the four of us together have a huge fight on our hands tonight if we want to be the ones who advance through to the second round,” she states absolutely certainly. “So before anyone goes running their mouth, including me, let me just say first of all that this match tonight is going to open the door for all eight of us, regardless of whether we win or lose. You see this match tonight is an opportunity, an opportunity to showcase our talents to the entire world, an opportunity to show the entire roster just how good we can be and an opportunity to take a match that they think is going to go a certain way and step up with it and STEAL THE SHOW tonight! Because I look at the seven girls who are going to be in the ring with me, I look at the seven talents who are going to be in there with me and I know that there isn’t a better collection of individual talent anywhere on this card! Ok, so we’re not all proven main eventers yet, we’ve not all got amazing championship legacies and an arena full of fans who want to chant our names and force the match makers in to putting us in the high profile slots, but tonight we have the opportunity to get those people chanting, tonight we have the opportunity to get the WHOLE WORLD talking about us, and I don’t know about the rest of you, I can’t speak for all of you, but that is something that I’m willing to fight for tonight. That is an opportunity I’m willing to grab hold of with both hands and NEVER let go of!”

She pauses for a moment before turning away from the camera, and then turning back again and smiling a little. “Do you know how rare it is to get an opportunity in this business?” she asks softly. “Do you know how rare it is to get a chance to put your name out there and have the truly great names of the past, and the best names of today, look at you and think ‘yah, you know what, she’s something special’? It’s so very rare! It’s so rare because this business isn’t one built on helping others, it isn’t one built on recognising the talents of others, it isn’t one built on being willing to reach out and lift someone up and give them the chance that they’re hungry for, it’s a business built on crushing people, it’s a business built on crushing hope, crushing dreams, making people feel small and worthless and pathetic! And for five years now I’ve competed in this business, and for five years now people have done exactly that to me. Every week I turn around and there’s someone standing there telling me that whatever I’ve done in the past it isn’t good enough. Every week I turn around and I find someone standing there telling me that whatever I think I’m worth I’m wrong, because they’re bigger than me, they’re better than me and I’m just a gnat in their eyes waiting to be smushed in to a oblivion! And after a certain amount of time, no matter how much you try and deny that, you do start believing it. You start to think that they’re right, that you are worthless, and that you’ll never amount to anything. So when you’re given an opportunity like this, when you’re given a chance like this to prove all of them wrong you’ve got to seize it. I’m talking to all of you. Nessa, Reiha, Nene, Fujiko, Willow, Hope and Allison, I’m talking to ALL of you when I say this. Tonight is OUR opportunity, and we’ve GOT to seize it!”

“But there can be only one team who advances, there can be only one team who gets to carry on in the Chase for the Crown, and even though I’ve never really be one to consider myself a Queen – I did always dream about being a fairytale princess, but really that’s not the point right now – there is nothing I want more in this world right now than reaching the final two, reaching the final match and being able to say that I was the winner, that of the eight of us who started out, I’m the best of all of us. And I’m sorry girls, I am, but tonight I’m going to do everything in my power to make that happen, and that means that four of you have got to go home. Fujiko, let me start with you because to you sweetie I honestly want to tell you right now that I’m sorry,” she says, looking almost guilty and apprehensive. “When I faced you a few weeks ago to qualify for this match you proved to me that you were one of the best that I’ve faced. You had fire, you had determination, and even though the others may look at you as ‘just the girl who posts half-naked pictures of herself’ to me you’re way more than that. You’re a fighter, and when we met a few weeks ago it was my pleasure to wrestle you, it was a hell of a fun time as well, and when I beat you I kind of hoped that qualifying for this match meant I’d be fighting by your side this time. At the time I didn’t know which team I’d end up on, I just wanted my foot in the door, I just wanted to be on a team, and then I found out that I’d be facing you and I knew that the fight you gave me before was going to be nothing compared to the fight you’d give me a second time. I know you want this as much as I do, I know you want this opportunity as much as I do and I know you’ve got a score to settle with me as well. So tonight, when you get your chance – and you will – you’ve got to take it!”

“See if you can beat me tonight Fujiko I’m going to be upset, I don’t deny that. I’m never happy when I lose, but then I’m a competitor and since when are competitors ever happy when they don’t win? But if you can beat me tonight sweetie then having already faced you, having already competed against you once before, you’ll be my pick to go all the way and win this,” she  says with a smile. “And that’s saying a lot, considering your partners tonight. First up we’ve got Allison Sullivan, the ‘New Age Sensation’, faced paced, lightning quick and able to hit you from anywhere in the ring! I watched her tapes not just from here but every match of hers I could find and I tried to figure out a way to scout her only to find that there IS no way to scout her! She can literally hit you from any angle at any time! How do you prepare for that? But the one thing I’m reassured about when it comes to Allison is that as quick as she is, as confident as she is, as good as she is she WILL make a mistake in that ring. That’s not arrogance; it’s not wishful thinking, its fact. Every competitor makes mistakes, and when you’ve got the kind of style and the kind of speed that Allison has when you score you score HUGE and you take out everyone in front of you but when you miss you miss huge as well. And I’m no slouch in that ring either, you know. I’ve always been quick, I’ve always been willing to put my body on the line, but I’ve also learned over the years when to do it and when not to. I’ve learned how to wait just that fraction of a second more for the opponent to commit and then roll aside and watch them fall. It’s called high risk for a reason after all, it’s high reward when it pays off, but it’s high cost when it doesn’t and if Allison is the one who makes the mistake tonight I’ll be there to drop her on her face. It’s not personal, but like I said I’m coming tonight to win.”

“Allison isn’t all we’ve got though. We’ve also got Willow. Former Future Shock competitor – not judging, just stating it – and from what I’ve seen really not very well liked. I heard when she was eliminated the second time people were celebrating. Actually celebrating! Now it really says something about someone who can piss people off that much, and I think Willow really has that ability to get under people’s skin,” she says with a laugh. “I’ve been here. People used to celebrate when I failed as well. And I’m not going to be that judgemental bitch who stands here and tells you that you’re doing it all wrong and you should obey the rules and blah, blah, blah, because when I was in Willow’s position all I ever heard from was those judgemental bitches who used to do ten times worse than I did and then told me that I was the one at fault for my actions! But Willow and me, we have something in common – South Cali! And I know there are plenty of us around, but I can’t help but smile whenever I see one of us making good. So you go girl, you do your thing, but tonight I intend to do mine too! And I know you’re fighting for something, I know you’re fighting to get noticed, I know you’re fighting to rub it in the face of all those who doubted you, all those who voted to see you eliminated, all those who wished you gone, and under any other circumstance maybe I’d be supporting you and telling you that you can prove them all wrong. You can prove them all wrong tonight. You have this opportunity ahead of you to do exactly that! But sweetie, I can too! I’ve got just as much to prove to the roster, just as much to prove to the world, and tonight in that ring I intend to prove it all and then some more. I know you’re going to come in with a game plan tonight, but so am I. At least one of us will be representing LA in the next round though, right?”

She laughs and shrugs her shoulders. “You’re not the only one looking to prove yourself either, you’re not even the only former Future Shock girl looking to show the world that they were wrong about them as well because you’ve got that in common with your partner tonight, Hope Dawson. And Hope is someone I follow on Twitter, someone I actually really like, another girl who tonight I would have been honoured to be partnered with, and instead I have the cruel displeasure of trying to eliminate. She’s another girl with that ‘never say die’ attitude, another girl willing to throw her body on the line, another girl willing to take huge risk in order to get huge reward, and another girl who tonight I’m going to try and catch in mid-air and drop to the mat,” she says, shrugging her shoulders apologetically. “I’m sorry Hope, it’s not personal. I know I said that before, but it’s not. You got a tough break in Future Shock, being the first one voted off is cruel to anyone, and I know this kind of opportunity is exactly what you’re craving, I know you want to go all the way, I know you want to prove everyone who doubted you wrong, but like I said before there can only be one team who advances this week and I have every intention of making sure I’m ON that team. You see we’re not so different, you and me. We’re both fighting to prove ourselves. We’re both fighting to be the best that we can be. And you’ve got this incredible opportunity in front of you – all four of you have – and tonight I know you’re all going to do whatever you can to seize it, but tonight I also know that I have this opportunity in front of me as well, tonight I want to take the first step toward a career in FFW that I can be PROUD of! I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: I’m not Holly Adams. I’m not Maddie McTaggert. Tonight, anyone who doubts that gets to find out for themselves. Because in just a few hours I step in to the ring and show the world that the slogan on the t-shirt doesn’t lie, and while in my future I may want to hold the Television title, the No Surrender title, the Tag Titles, the Trios Titles or even the FFW title itself right now I can only do one thing, step in to that ring and prove why I am the BEST FEMALE WRESTLER IN THE WORLD. And guys, if you can’t handle that then you’ve only got one choice: JUST BE JEALOUS!”

She steps forward and kisses the camera lens before grinning at the camera and mouthing the words ‘soon you soon guys’. She steps back from the camera and the video ends and the replay button flashes up on the screen.
