The video begins and we see the inside a pink-coloured bedroom. It’s not as pink as a Barbie bedroom would be of course, but there’s a pink tint to the decorations and the sheets. Lying on the bed is none other than one half of the new Unity Tag Team Champions, Ms Ravyn Taylor, with her brand new Unity Championship belt at her side. In front of the camera however is her partner, the blonde-haired Syren, who has her Unity title over her shoulder and a smile on her face. “What’s up guys? I am so excited to be able to say this, but we did it,” she says with a huge smile on her face before she looks at the title on her shoulder and then over at her partner who’s laying on the bed. Ravyn picks up her title and holds it up playfully. “All we wanted was an opportunity. All we wanted was a chance. And at Chaos Theory we got that chance, we fought KO/TO in one of the best matches of our careers, one of the most exciting matches of our careers, and we did what we promised we’d do. At Chaos Theory I feel like Dark Fantasy finally arrived in FFW and I don’t think right now either one of us could be more excited or prouder of that. And I just want to thank everyone who supported us, everyone who believed in us, and say that these titles are for you.”
“I disagree,” Ravyn says playfully. “I think these titles are for us. And unlike my lovely partner I’m not the gushing kind, but I am proud of what we achieved. Last Saturday you heard all about how much that means to Syren. Last Saturday you heard all about how much that means to her, and you should know that she wasn’t wrong. Dark Fantasy is just getting started.”
Syren smiles and nods her head. “We totally are, and that’s why we were listening when we got challenged on Saturday night. We know who are opponents are going to be at Relentless. We know we’re facing the ‘One Woman Show’, but unfortunately for all concerned there’s a different show in town right now and that show has two of the best tag team wrestlers in the world as a part of it, and our show isn’t ending any time soon,” she says before turning to smile at Ravyn. Ravyn smirks back. Syren then turns back to the camera again happily. “But we’ve got a long old way to go before we get there, haven’t we? And don’t worry; we’re not looking past anyone else on the roster. We know how competitive the Unity division is right now and we’re more than happy to fight anyone any time. We want to make this the most competitive division in the company. We want to lead the way. And guys, everyone knows you beat a champion in a non-title match and that puts you in line for the next shot, so to every team out there that’s our challenge to you. We know the ‘One Woman Show’ is coming for us, but come May 31st we’re still going to be FFW Unity Champions and when we are any team who’s stepped up and proven themselves could be next in line. So what are you guys waiting for, we’re not hard to find?”
“Oh, we’ll be waiting for sure, but as you said baby it’s a long road to get there, and before we do get there you’ve got a challenge of your own to face,” Ravyn says excitedly. “And it’s against an old friend of ours no less. Not Nevaeh of course, I don’t believe we’ve ever been introduced, but we know ol’ Silas pretty well, don’t we?”
Syren rolls her eyes. “Unfortunately we do,” she says before shaking her head. She glances back at her partner one more time before looking back to the camera. “Ok, let me start off by telling you a few things that I think you need to know. The first thing is that I’m excited about this week. This is my return to singles wrestling in FFW, something that I’ve not done a whole lot of since Dark Fantasy teamed with Maddie McTaggert and beat the Shades of the Sun and kicked our careers in to a direction we didn’t plan for them to go, but are so very grateful that they did. Since that time it’s been all about Dark Fantasy, and even when Ravyn and I were in the ring on our own it was still all about Dark Fantasy and the Rocking Kittens, it was about showing the world what we could do, it was about getting our names out there by competing against one of the most exciting teams in this company, and perhaps my record in that regard isn’t as spotless as I’d have liked it to be, but today is a whole new day, as they say, and Velocity is a fresh start in that regard. It’s my first time in the ring in 2015 as a singles wrestler, and guys I think you may remember that I’m pretty good on my own.”
“Best Female Wrestler in the World,” Ravyn says with a playful smile.
“And Second to No Man,” Syren adds immediately before laughing. “And I’ve had my setbacks in proving that, but the measure of a great competitor isn’t the fact that they never lose, it’s how they deal with loss, and guys here’s the next thing you should know about me. I may obsess over my losses, I may have been criticised for how seriously I take every single one of them, but I bounce back from losses better than anyone in this business, I push forward after losses better than anyone else and each setback doesn’t derail me, it only forces me to push harder and find a way to be better than I was before. And guys, this Thursday night you’re going to see that I am better than I was before. And this Thursday night guys, I have an opportunity that I’ve been waiting a long time for, and that’s the opportunity to go one on one with the FFW Television Champion. Of course when I fought for that opportunity to go up against the Television Champion it was to go up against a woman with heart, with courage, with skill, with talent and with perseverance, a woman I’ve never met but yet a woman I have a ton of respect for, a woman named Kelly McGuffin, a woman who for almost ALL of 2014 I can put my hand on my heart and say honestly I thought was the best damn wrestler on Television, and a more than worthy Television Champion!”
She nods her head honestly. “Like I said, I don’t know Kelly, I don’t think I’ve ever met Kelly, but when I got the opportunity to compete for a Television Championship match I wanted it more than you could ever believe. I wanted my chance to step in to the ring with her, to show that I could be as good as her, to prove myself against one of the best in this company, and I hoped that when the day came that I got in to the ring with the FFW Television Champion that it would still be Kelly, but it’s not. It’s not Kelly and I’ll admit that I’m a little disappointed about that. I’m a little disappointed because rather than facing arguably the greatest Television Champion in the history of this company I’m facing another member of ‘Silas World’, another sell-out, another coward, and a woman who at Chaos Theory was down in the middle of the ring not just for a three count but for a FIVE count, but yet who stands in that ring this Thursday night as a ‘winner’,” she says, shaking her head in disgust. “Is that what Nevaeh is? Is that what Silas Mason manages? No, Silas doesn’t have a winner on his hands he has another loser. And this Thursday night that is what I intend to make sure the world knows about Nevaeh, because when CHAMPION faces CHAMPION this Thursday on Velocity I intend to raise the Unity Championship over my head while my music plays at the end and I show the world you don’t need to be a cheat and a coward to be a champion.”
“Now a lot of you guys may not know my history with Silas Mason, and I’m not going to recap the whole thing because honestly it would take too long, there’s a lot of it, but I’ve come across this particular weasel before. I’ve come up against this particular weasel while he was ruining lives, while he was gathering together an army, and while he was doing everything he could to deny me an opportunity that I earned. You see I earned a chance, and Silas wanted to take that from me so his ‘baby girl’ could have an easy ride. To do that he sent his army after me. A six-foot overly muscular, man-handed bitch, an uppity, in-your-face cowardly whore and a braggart who thinks she’s the best thing in the world. These are the kind of people Silas Mason gets on his side. And those three came after me, along with everyone else who sold out to him, and they beat me down, and they put me in the hospital, and they tried to end my career, all so ‘baby girl’ could have it easy,” Syren explains before laughing and shaking her head. “Well, Silas didn’t get what he wanted. He knocked me down, he had me beaten up, but I came back, I found people who dislike him as much as I do, I knocked down his whole little ‘Silas World’ and then I denied ‘baby girl’ her prize as well. And after that, let’s just say I don’t think Mr Mason likes me very much because I proved I don’t need an army, I showed him all I needed was right here!”
She holds her arms out defiantly before grinning at the camera. “So guys, when I tell you that I know all about Silas Mason, that I know all about his tactics, and that I think anyone who aligns themselves with a piece of crap like that in order to get ahead really needs to take a long, hard look at themselves and ask themselves where the hell it went wrong for them, I’m not lying. And I look at Nevaeh Summers and do you want to know what I see? I see a woman with incredible talent, with great ability, a woman who could have stood on her own, a woman who could have made it on her own, but another in a long, long list of disposable bitches who think that holding a title belt makes them a champion,” she says before shaking her head. “No, holding a belt doesn’t make you a champion. Proving yourself in that ring, fighting for everything you’ve got, showing the world that you’re passionate, that you’ve got desire, that you’re the World’s Finest because you’ve faced off against the best and beaten them without doubt – not that you’ve beaten them because the referee wasn’t looking when they kicked your teeth down your throat and pinned your shoulders to the mat – is what makes you a champion. Proving you’re the BEST is what makes you a champion, and Nevaeh Summers is a lot of things, but based on what happened at Chaos Theory against Leona Vega she’s no champion.”
She shakes her head and lets the FFW Unity title slide off her shoulder before catching it and holding it up to the camera. “Trust me, I know a thing or two about being a champion, and this Thursday night guys I’m going to show you what it means. This Thursday night I’m facing ‘Baby Peach’ in the ring, and seriously what the fuck is up with that nickname? ‘Baby Peach’? Fucking seriously? He’s got a ‘Baby Girl’, a ‘Baby Doll’, a baby beast, a baby bitch, a lot of baby sell-outs and now he’s got a ‘Baby Peach’ as well. How wonderful! And tell me, ‘Baby Peach’ are you proud of yourself? Are you proud that you need that douche-canoe to do your talking for you? Does it make you feel special to be introduced by someone like that on your way to the ring? Yah, there are a lot of girls in this business who feel ‘special’ for that reason too. There are a lot of girls he’s made promises to. There are a lot of girls he’s promised to lead to the top. Do you know where he actually leads them? Mediocrity, disappointment and failure,” she says, counting each of the three off against her fingers. “And trust me, ‘Peach’, you stick around him too long and that’s exactly where you’re going to end up as well, because I’m not the only one who saw what happened when you fought Leona. I’m not the only one who knows that Leona had you beat in the middle of the ring. And trust me, things like that have a habit of coming back around and slapping you hard across the face.”
“Speaking of which,” Ravyn chirps in with a smile on her face, “I know how much you love to do things on your own baby, but I also know how big of an influence Mr Mason can be. So this week I’m going to promise you something that Leona didn’t have, and that’s someone in your corner, someone watching your back, and someone who’d get a little thrill from showing Silas Mason what a Bad, Bad Girl she can be.”
Syren turns around and smiles at her partner. “Oh I’m looking forward to that,” she says with a huge grin before turning back to the camera. “You see I’ve done this before, Nevaeh. I’ve fought an army before, and I’ve won. But this Thursday I’m not on my own and I’m not fighting an army, I’m fighting you. And as talented as you are, as good as you could be, I want you to know something – I’m better! That’s not bragging, that’s not ego, that’s just something I’m intending to prove when I step in to the ring this Thursday night. You’re the Television Champion, I’m one half of the Unity Champions, and this Thursday there’s going to be a show without a doubt, but this Thursday night I get a chance to re-establish my singles career by beating you, by showing you that selling out doesn’t help you, by showing the world that being ‘Baby Peach’ doesn’t make you a champion, but that being the Best Female Wrestler in the World does! And here’s the truth Nev, I want to like you. I want to respect you. I wish I could. But I don’t. This Thursday I hope Leona is watching. And I hope you try to do the same thing to me that you did to her. I hope you jump me when my back is turned. I hope you have Silas do everything he can to help you. Because when I drop you on your face in the middle of the ring I’m not just doing it for me, I’m doing it for people like Leona, I’m doing it for every hard working woman in this company who wants to make it on her own, not make it with every bit of help she can get, and I’m doing it for every fan who pays for their seat to see the BEST, not those who need cheap tricks to win.”
Ravyn smiles and Syren looks focused. “At Velocity, ‘Peach’, the Bradley Center is going to get a show. On Thursday Milwaukee is going to come alive, and they’re going to get entertained. We all know already that FFW is the home of the best female competition on the planet, the home of some of the toughest women in this sport, the home of the best matches, the most prestigious titles in women’s wrestling, and Thursday night I’ve got an opportunity ahead of myself to prove myself in front of all of them, in front of the world, and I’m intending on taking it, because when I came to this company I promised you guys something. I promised you guys that I was going to prove myself. I promised you guys that I was going to establish myself. I promised you guys that I wasn’t Maddie, that I wasn’t Holly, that I wasn’t just another fraud claiming she was good but needing to cheat to prove it,” she says passionately before raising the Unity title again. “At Chaos Theory Dark Fantasy took advantage of one opportunity and we became champions in FFW, but I’ve got a whole lot of ambition and like I said before, I’m just getting started. Right now the Unity division is our focus, we want to show the world that Dark Fantasy is the best tag team in FFW, but I want to show the world that I belong in the ring with the very best this company has to offer, and when I beat Nevaeh this Thursday I intend to send that statement. Then she, and Silas, and anyone else he can bring to try and stop me this time, can all do one thing for me. They can run away with their tails between their legs, and JUST BE JEALOUS!”
She kisses the Unity title before holding it up with pride. “Champion versus Champion on Velocity,” she says with excitement. “See you guys there.”
And with that the video fades out and comes to an end as the replay button flashes up on the screen.
