The video begins and we see the somewhat familiar sight of the home in Malibu, California owned by both members of Dark Fantasy. More specifically we see the deck. It’s a place we’ve seen many times before, but what we haven’t seen too many times before is the sight that stands in front of the camera. It’s not just Syren. It’s a refreshed looking Syren. It’s a focused looking Syren. It’s a Syren with a little grin on her face. “Guess what, bitches? I’m baaaaack,” she says happily, posing a little in front of the camera out of joy. “Ugh, and oh my god does it feel good to be able to say that. You know I can’t tell you how annoying the last few weeks have been. I don’t even mean the headaches and the pains either. I’m used to that kind of stuff. I get dropped on my head often enough that having a headache in the middle of the night is nothing new. And no, it’s not a sign of anything, I promise I’m fully checked out by medical. It’s being in this business. It’s the price you pay with your body for getting to where you want to be. Pain for me is nothing new, but time on the side-lines? Time on the side-lines is definitely something new for me, and something that I am NOT happy about. Last weekend SCW held its third pay per view event of the year. It was a good event by all accounts. We saw a new United States Champion crowned. We saw a new World Champion crowned. We saw the ending of some rivalries. Maybe we saw the beginning of some more. But you know what you didn’t see? Yah, you didn’t see me.”
She shakes her head, clearly unhappy about that fact. “And you know what? That broke a very important streak for me. The fact is that I don’t like being hurt. You knock me down and I get up again. That’s who I am. That’s what I do. I drag myself back up to my feet and I FIGHT again. No excuses. No whining. And god knows I’ve had enough people over the course of my career put that to the test. I’ve been put through tables on Wednesday and then come Sunday I’ve been back on my feet again ready to fight the biggest matches of my life. You knock me down and I get back up. I’ve made my CAREER on that fact. Until a few weeks ago that is when someone knocked me down and they didn’t intend on me getting back up,” she says, shaking her head. “They probably thought that they’d accomplished what they wanted to accomplish. They probably thought that they’d gotten rid of Syren. Nuh-uh. Not even close! What you DID do is put me on the side-lines for a bit. What you DID do was send me to the hospital to get myself looked over. What you DID do is leave me jumping through hoops to be fit again as fast as I could, to prove that I can recover faster than anyone, to prove that there is NOTHING that I can’t bounce back from ESPECIALLY some cowardly bullshit attack from behind in the locker rooms on a night that I was SUPPOSED to be competing with a friend at my side against two assholes. But you know what else you did? You made me fight to come back… and that reminded me how much I love being inside that ring.”
She lets out a long sigh and then shakes her head. “You tried to take something from me that I love. You’d have thought, after everything that I’ve done in my career, that people wouldn’t get that stupid anymore, wouldn’t you? Because you guys should know by now what happens when you mess with the things I love. You don’t get ‘happy Syren’. You don’t get ‘smiling, signing autographs, posing for photos Syren’. No. When you try to take something away from me you get me one hundred percent focused. And thanks to being knocked out cold, thanks to having to endure recovery and concussion protocols, thanks to being denied even being allowed in the goddamn locker room last Sunday night, missing out on a pay per view event for the first time in YEARS, now I’m pretty goddamn focused. And I’m back. And I’m back with just two things in mind,” she says with a smile on her face but yet a fire in her eyes while holding up two fingers. “The first thing I’m going to do is I’m going to find whoever took me out. I don’t know how I’m going to do that yet. The list of suspects is a long one. But I know where I’m going to start. And when I find the person who took me out I’m not going to be all smiles, I’m not going to be all ‘meet me in the ring and settle this’. Oh no. That’s way too good for the mood I’m in right now. When I find the person who took me out I’m going to return the favour. Yah, you heard me. When I find the person who tried to take from me I’m going to take from THEM, but I’m not going to do it in the back like a cowardly little bitch, I’m going to do it in front of the world on live TV.”
She has a focus and a fire in her eyes that is rarely seen in hers, almost like something we’d expect from her Dark Fantasy partner rather than from her. “Now if you think that means I’m going to go in there like a loose cannon trying to injure them… well, then you don’t know me at all. You see I’ve had a good few weeks to think about what I’d do to them. I’ve had a good few weeks of sitting around twiddling my thumbs and playing mommy with my twins all the while thinking about what I’d do when I find the person who injured me. And I don’t intend on making a threat so stupid as ‘ending your career like you tried to end mine’. I’m not that cliché. I may be blonde, but I’m not THAT blonde who makes those kinds of dumb-ass promises. No, but I am going to take from you. Make no mistake about it, when this is over with you will regret the day you decided to take me out when I’m standing in that ring, standing over you, and you’re looking up from the mat knowing that everything you hoped to accomplish with that cowardly attack on me is gone,” she says coldly before letting a grin creep across her face. “And when I’m done with that then I’m going back down to that ring because, before I was so rudely interrupted, there was something I was working on. What was that again? Would someone remind me? Oh right. I was working on becoming a SIX-TIME SCW World Champion. Now the title may have changed hands in the time that I’ve been out, but believe me if anything that’s only motivated me even more.”
“And it seems like I’m coming back at just the perfect time as well, doesn’t it? That’s because this week it’s not about announced matches. This week it’s not about hyping up the next encounter. This week it isn’t about talking up – or talking down – your opponent. This week it isn’t about making promises that you’re going to run a gauntlet, overcome a tag team or walk out with a championship. This week it’s about walking in unprepared with NO IDEA what you could be about to face. Now for some that would be a pretty daunting proposition. There are champions right now who are likely looking at their titles and wondering if they’ll be on the line, and against who. When you’re a champion in that situation it can be a bitch trying to guess who your opponent might be. Believe me, I know all about that. I’ve walked into Fatal Fortunes holding a title before. Hell, I’ve walked into Fatal Fortunes holding TWO titles before, knowing that chances were I’d be DEFENDING both titles as well. And I know what that kind of pressure can do. What’s the old saying, that pressure can make diamonds? It’s true. It can,” she says with a smile on her face. “But pressure can also break even the strongest materials on earth. It doesn’t matter how strong it is. It doesn’t matter how tough it is. You get the right amount of pressure and everything breaks in the end. And there are an awful lot of people right now with a little bit of sweat on their brows, feeling that pressure mounting up, and knowing that it’s only going to get worse before we go live on Wednesday night…”
She smiles again, looking genuinely excited this time. “So, can you imagine the possibilities? I’m not just talking about championship matches either. I’m talking about dream matches. We could get just about ANYTHING this week. We could get Dark Fantasy riding again against any of the new teams out there who we’ve never faced up against before. Not gonna lie, that’d be a lot of fun. Ravyn and me do like a challenge, and it’s been a while since the two of us got to stand side by side taking on the best the company has to offer. We could also get individual dream matches though, and believe me there’s just a few of those I’d love to have,” she says, her meaning obvious by the emphasis on the word ‘few’. “I mean let’s run down the list, shall we? Syren against Amy Chastaine? It could happen. There’s two shows of madness, who’s to say just because she’s fighting Christy Matthews this Wednesday that couldn’t happen next week, title or not. And we both know Amy and me would put on a show for all you guys to find out which one of us is still the better competitor. What about Syren versus AJ Helms? It’s been a while, he’s come a LONG way since the last time our paths crossed, and while the last time was in the Best of the Best tournament I’d love to see what we could do in the middle of that ring on Breakdown. Then again, what about a more ‘classic’ opponent? Syren versus Jake Starr? You know that story is never going to end. Syren versus Tommy Valentine? I could train with the guy a thousand times and he’ll still give me something I’ve not seen before because that’s how good he can be. Or what about something a little more recent… Syren versus Vixen Cain?”
She nods her head, looking at the camera with intent. “Yah, you KNOW you and Wiseman are at the top of my list, don’t you Vixen? It does seem pretty convenient that one week I’ve got your number but for the interference of Alex Drake and the next show I’m set to fight you and Merrick in a tag team match and all of a sudden I get jumped from behind? But you wouldn’t know anything about that, right? Because Merrick over there believes in ‘justice’ and blah, blah, blah, and you’d NEVER do something as cheap and underhanded as—oh wait, right, should I ask Selena Frost how trustworthy you can be as an opponent, Vixen?” she asks coldly. “Now I can’t prove it was you. Not yet, anyway. But like I said, you’re at the top of my list and if I find it WAS you, if I find you were involved, if I find that the only way you could see to keep your spot at the top was to try to take out one of the threats to that spot then I guarantee you Vixen that not only will you be looking up at me from the mat but that when I’m standing in that ring with the SCW World Championship held above my head you’ll be looking from afar at that ring WISHING you had a pair of balls between those legs of yours instead of a sad, empty little sack of skin. And if it wasn’t you, if it was your partner in crime who’s ‘bad’, then believe me Merrick Wiseman isn’t going to just need ‘justice’ on his side, he’s going to need to line the ring with every crooked cop, lawyer and judge he can find to keep me from dropping his corrupt face down in the middle of it and giving him, and his entire bullshit point of view, the TOTAL MAKEOVER it so badly needs. Can you pass that message along for me, ‘dearie’? That’d be great. Thanks.”
She waves at the camera as though waving goodbye to that thought before refocusing and smiling once again. “Then again the really fun part about Fatal Fortunes is that you just don’t know WHAT’S going to happen. I mean I’m pretty sure half the roster right is salivating over the chance of a shot at a random title, or maybe that they’ll be the one picked to be Kelcey Wallace’s first challenge in her third reign at the top, but there aren’t exactly enough titles to go around and while I’d love the chance to randomly walk out of that curtain knowing that I’m about to compete for something I’ve never even had a shot at before, like the United States Championship, I’m not going to bet on it. What I am going to bet on though, what I can guarantee is an absolute safe bet, is that WHOEVER I’m up against in that ring is going to get the best damn Syren you’ve seen in a long time. See, that’s the thing about having time off. That’s the thing about being forced onto the injured list. Not only does it give you time to think about what happened to you, it gives you time to think about YOURSELF as well. It gives you time to assess everything you’ve been doing lately. It gives you time to think about those places where you’ve been lacking, and where you KNOW you can do better. More than that though it also lets you heal,” she says before rotating her arm around and around while smiling at the camera. “And ooh look, that shoulder that was giving me a bit of problem at the beginning of the year has started to feel a LOT better. That knock to the ribs that Alexis gave me in January? That’s all nicely healed too. And you know what that means, don’t you?”
She giggles a little before rubbing her chin like she’s contemplating it. “Oh, right, that means that the biggest time of the SCW year is fast approaching, that means the bright lights of Rise to Greatness are calling out to all of us once again, that means we’re just weeks away from Taking Hold of the Flame, and that means there couldn’t be a BETTER time for me to come back one hundred percent fit and ready to go. This Wednesday night I’m going to show that. This Wednesday night I’m going to prove it in the ring, no matter who I’m facing, no matter what the stipulation is. This Wednesday night you’re going to see the very best of Syren once again in the squared circle as I make my intentions all too clear that I’m going to do ANYTHING it takes to get back to where I want to be, I’m going to do ANYTHING it takes to secure for myself another Rise to Greatness main event shot, and whether that’s securing myself a shot at the World Championship and walking in there ready, willing and excited to defend the SCW World Championship maybe for the first time in my career, or whether it’s walking out of Rise to Greatness after WINNING the SCW World Championship for the second time in my career I honestly don’t know. All I do know, you guys, is that I would NOT miss the next few weeks as SCW goes Fatal Fortunes crazy, the path to the biggest spectacle of the year opens up, and oh yah, one more thing,” she says, looking down at herself and smiling before looking up at the camera again. “You get to see, once again, why assholes may knock me down but I ALWAYS come back, not because I’m invincible, but damn sure because I AM UNSTOPPABLE!”
She flicks her hair before smiling at the camera and blowing it a kiss. “See you Wednesday, guys,” she says before winking happily. “Damn it’s good to be back!”
And with that the scene fades out and the video comes to an end with the replay button flashing up on the screen.
