The video begins and we see in the background the iconic Millennium Gate Museum in Atlanta, Georgia. The camera holds on the sight for a moment before slowly panning to the right where we find both Ravyn Taylor and Syren, the duo known collectively as Dark Fantasy. Syren is dressed in a black hoodie with checkboxes down the front, looking happy to be wrapped up warm, while Ravyn wears a red unbranded sweater, obviously less willing to advertise the merchandise than her tag partner. “Hey guys, welcome to Atlanta,” Syren says to the camera with a huge smile. “We’re currently enjoying a bit of sight-seeing ahead of tonight’s match and it’s super cold here in Atlanta today so I’m wrapping up nice and warm in my favourite new hoodie? It’s amazing, right? Thanks so much to the guys who designed it, and if you want to represent your favourite tag team and mine then what better way to do it than like this, with the added benefit that you get to stay nice and snuggly warm as well. Merchandise is on sale now, and I’m totally loving it. And I know, starting off a video by trying to get you to buy stuff is not my normal style but what can I say, I can’t help that I’m in an amazing mood right now. Better than Ms Grumpy here, anyway.”
“It’s called focus baby,” Ravyn tells her before rolling her eyes. “And yes, while you’re excited about our first bit of FFW merchandise and about the possibility of finally feeling accepted amongst the FFW fans my mind if focused only on the next objective, it’s focused only on the next task at hand, and that’s tonight live from the Philips Arena when Dark Fantasy takes on DreamBloom. And while this match could be looked at as ‘merely’ a warm up match for Chaos Theory in two weeks time I see this match as so much more than that. Is it about gaining momentum heading in to the biggest night of our FFW careers to date? Of course! Why wouldn’t it be? But it’s also about so much more than that because tonight isn’t some local unknown tag team, tonight FFW management haven’t just rounded up two individuals and thrown them in the ring against us, tonight FFW have gotten two of their best, two established veterans of this company with a whole list of successes to their names, to stand as the last test between Dark Fantasy and our shot at the FFW Unity Championships. That is something that I’m taking very seriously.”
“What, and I’m not?” Syren asks defensively before pouting. “Geez, sorry, I was all excited over the hoodie. It is super cool though, but whatever, you’re right. Tonight isn’t about hoodies. Tonight isn’t about merchandise. Tonight is about competition, and competition with one of the best tag teams in this company today. And we know that they’re one of the best tag teams because they’re two that we’ve been watching very closely for a while now, because they represent two thirds of the FFW Trios Champions and the former opponents of our former opponents. And trust me when I tell you that we were hooked on the matches between the Triple Threat and the Shades of the Sun, not only because we were busy scouting the Kittens for our match before Christmas but because we wanted to see the very, very best that FFW had to offer when it came to tag team wrestling. And we saw that. We saw all that and more. We saw two of the best trios teams on the planet competing in some of the best trios matches I’ve ever seen in my life, and that’s coming from a woman who three times in a row has made her name as part of trios teams. In fact a massive amount of the opportunities I’ve gotten in my career, and all the success I’ve had in the last few years, has come as a direct result of Trios tournaments, so when I tell you that these six women represent the BEST Trios teams on the planet I want you to know how serious I am.”
“Now when you see the very best competing against one another it presents you with two distinct possibilities as competitors in this business,” Ravyn explains to the camera. “The first possibility is to watch them going against one another and to become intimidated by it all. When you see incredible matches, when you hear the level of crowd reaction that has occurred in each of the matches between the Shades of the Sun and the Triple Threat, and when you bear witness to everything that both teams put themselves through in order to attempt to best the other then it can be easy to become intimidated by it. It can become easy to stare at them in envy. It can become a simple thing to allow yourself to be consumed by what you’re watching and to elevate those individuals on to a level above all others. But there’s another option as well, and that’s rather than allowing intimidation to affect you to embrace what you’re witnessing and become inspired by it all instead. That is what happened each time we’ve sat and we’ve watched these matches. We’ve become inspired by them. We’ve looked at each other and we’ve said that we want to be a part of that. We want to be a part of that level of competition. We want that level of recognition. And one route to that comes on February 28th when Dark Fantasy challenge KO/TO, but another such opportunity occurs tonight!”
“Yah, it totally does, and tonight we get our opportunity to truly test ourselves and find out if we have what it takes to compete against a goal that we set ourselves back last year, and a goal that we’re both very serious when it comes to attaining. But before I talk about a possible future for Dark Fantasy when it comes to Trios there’s something else I should probably address, something that I’ve been itching to address the last few weeks and something that I’ve had to be very restrained not to mention on Twitter or anywhere else. Then again, you guys know me and Twitter, right? I’m not exactly the most active on there. That’s mostly because I’m busy, it’s because I’m training, it’s because I’m travelling, it’s because I’m working hard and taking my career seriously, it’s because I’m readying myself for matches like tonight against the very best competition, but it’s also because I’ve said things that people didn’t like before and I don’t need to be dealing with all the hate again,” Syren explains before letting out a sigh. “But a subject came up recently on FFW TV, a subject that’s fitting considering we’re talking about Trios matches, and that’s the subject of Maddie McTaggert. And if you guys are hoping for a scoop or something based on that then I’ve got some bad news – I have no idea what is going on with her right now. Is she back? Is she attacking people and giving them ‘makeovers’? Is she still gone? I genuinely don’t know. We haven’t talked in a while. But I hope she’s not back.”
She pauses for a moment before potentially realising how that came out. Ravyn smirks at her. “You hope she’s not back?” she asks. “I’m sure she’ll be thrilled to hear that.”
“Ok, that came out harsher than it was meant to, but the point I was trying to make is that I hope she’s not back not because I don’t want to see her, not because I don’t think she has a place here, not because I think that she doesn’t deserve a second chance because I do, I think the way she left was horrible and I hope that she’s back to make it right, but the reason I hope she’s not back is because what you’re looking at right here, Dark Fantasy, isn’t ‘The Blondetourage’ anymore, ok? We’ve moved past that. We’ve moved on. And frankly I’m not looking to take a step back, I want to move forward,” Syren explains in a determined tone. “That’s what we intend to do tonight. So whatever is or isn’t going on there, I can’t tell you. But what I can tell you is that stepping in the ring tonight against Crystal Hilton and Jennifer Williams is going to be an honour, and one that I’m super looking forward to!”
Ravyn nods in agreement. “What better way to test yourselves than to face the very best?” she asks before smirking. “And we know more than a little something about facing the very best. The Triple Threat had their struggles with the Shades of the Sun, so did we, and they proved themselves the better trios team than the Shades of the Sun in the end, just as Dark Fantasy was able to overcome the Kittens, in the end, so tonight we get to find out which unit is stronger. And whatever happens tonight, I can promise you two things. The first of those is that this isn’t a onetime match. This isn’t a one-off moment in history you’ll never see repeated again. This is the beginning of something, just as our match against the Kittens we knew was far from the end. That is because Dark Fantasy aren’t looking for one-off moments, we’re looking to build a legacy, and when you’re building a legacy the key there is not to prove yourselves good on one night but to prove yourselves great over many.”
“Yah, and the second thing we promise you is that tonight we’re going in to that ring with one goal in mind, and that’s to win. I know DreamBloom have their own stuff going on, I know there are a lot of people hungry for matches with them as individuals, as a tag team and even as a Trios team along with Casey, and I know that we’ve got our own thing going on as well, we’re focused on February 28th, we’re focused on our opportunity to make history, but that doesn’t mean we’re looking past this match,” Syren says before shaking her head. “Hell, it means the opposite. It means we’re focused on this match. It means we’re looking to prove ourselves in this match. It means we’re looking to prove ourselves against two women we have a lot of respect for in every way they compete. And when you look at these girls why wouldn’t you have THE MOST respect for them? Because this is a hell of an opportunity for us to prove ourselves against the best, against former champions at ever level, against a former Television Champion, a former Evolution Champion, current reigning Trios Champions, tournament winners, prize-winners and even a Hall of Famer. And that’s a huge list of things that I’ll be honest right now, I’m jealous of.”
Ravyn smirks. “She doesn’t like being jealous,” she says to the camera, nodding toward Syren. “She gets ultra competitive when she gets jealous.”
“I totally don’t like it, you’re so right, but when you look at Crystal and you look at Jennifer how can you NOT be jealous of everything they’ve accomplished?” the blonde asks her partner. “One day I’d love to have the kind of résumé in FFW that they have.”
“And they do have an incredible résumé,” Ravyn says in agreement. “They’re two of the most recognisable faces in the company. But to prove yourself as the best you’ve got to take on the very best competition you can find, and that’s what tonight is about. We want Dark Fantasy to be that recognisable. We want Dark Fantasy to have that instant level of credibility that both these women have. And to get that you don’t cry about it, you don’t make threats, you step in to the ring and you fight the very, very best. Tonight, that’s what we’re going to do. Tonight, that’s what Dark Fantasy is all about. And quite frankly the level of respect that my tag team partner has for the two of you goes far beyond anything else – I’m afraid I don’t quite look at you two with the glowing admiration that she possesses and instead I see you for your flaws along with your successes, I see you for your weaknesses as well as your accomplishments – but tonight when we get in to that ring the respect will end and the competition will begin.”
Syren laughs and nods her head. “See, that’s something I’ve been told,” she says with a smile. “People think I’m too respectful. They think I’m too ‘nice’. They say that they think I should have a vicious side, that I should stand here and tell an opponent every reason I dislike them, that I should give them a list of their failures and tell them that they’re not good enough, that I should run them down and tell them I’m better than them, but that’s not my style. I don’t think it makes me better than someone to stand here and remind them of every thing they failed at. I don’t think it benefits anyone to brag about how amazing I am knowing there’s a possibility that I could go in to that ring and Jennifer and Crystal could remind the world why they HAVE accomplished everything they’ve accomplished. I’m a very respectful person, I don’t talk down to people to make myself feel better than them, but when it comes time to get in to that ring and fight then it doesn’t matter if I love you, if I respect you or if I hate you, I’m going to give you EVERYTHING that I have in that ring and I’m going to find a way to beat you. That’s why I’ve made a reputation as the Best Female Wrestler in the World, and why I am Second To No Man!”
“And tonight there will be a fight,” Ravyn assures the camera, a smile spreading across her face as she does so. “Tonight there will be a battle. Tonight ‘DreamBloom’ put their legendary selves up against the upstarts, up against the new kids on the block, up against the hungry and determined tag team of Dark Fantasy and their impressive array of FFW accomplishments only gives us more reason to fight harder, to give more, and to do whatever we need to do to win. You see ladies it genuinely doesn’t matter to me how you view us. It doesn’t matter to me if you look down your noses at us as others have before and you think of us as less than you. It doesn’t matter to me if you look at the two of us and you want to pick apart everything we’ve ever said, tell us why you think that you’re that much better and why you think we’re wrong about everything we’ve ever said. It doesn’t matter to me if you view us as competition or you’re expecting to walk in to this match and roll over us because we’ve experienced all of that before, we’ve had teams look down on us and we’ve proven them wrong, we’ve had teams doubt us and we’ve knocked them down, and that’s what we’re planning to do to you.”
“We’ve got dreams. We’ve got ambition. We want those Unity Tag Team titles, to do something that Maddie and Holly failed to do before and finally move ourselves out of their shadows forever, and we want the world to recognise we’re not replacements, we don’t give a damn what anyone says about us, we’re out to prove ourselves as one of the best teams in this business and tonight we get to test ourselves against one of the best teams in this business,” Syren says excitedly. “So Crystal, Jennifer, we’ve been watching our tapes, we’ve been doing plenty of research on the two of you, we’ve seen the fury that you brought to the Shades and that you bring every damn night, but this week we’re not intending to become another in the enormous list of girls you’ve proven yourselves against, and instead when the Mountain Dew Rush is coming straight for us or Rose Prism Power is about to take flight I want you guys to know that I intend to leave the Rose Goddess seeing angels and Jenny ‘Lady Dreaming’ on her back when she’s laid out with the Total Makeover. And girls, I know this is going to be a fight, I know how hard you’re going to bring it, but I also want you to know that win or lose I’m going to respect the hell out of you both, but that if you think we’re anything less than competition for your spots and for those beautiful title belts you’re wearing then you’re wrong, and if you can’t handle the thought of us being on your level then tonight, especially if we beat you, then if you can’t be respectful to us then you can JUST BE JEALOUS!”
Ravyn smirks and nods her head. “Tonight’s a big night ladies,” she says with confidence. “We’ve seen you succeed, we’ve seen you fail, which will it be tonight? Will you do as we intend to do and stand tall, or will you fall at the feet of a Bad, Bad Girl?”
Syren giggles happily before blowing a kiss to the camera. “Love you guys! Thanks for listening. See you tonight,” she says excitedly before spinning around and pointing at the logo on the back of her hoodie. “Oh, and don’t forget to represent the sexy gear! You know you want it.”
Ravyn laughs, as does the person behind the camera, and on that note Syren spins back and smiles at the camera once again as the video fades out and then ends, with the replay button flashing up on the screen.
