The video begins and we see a glass cabinet in the centre of the screen. The camera is focused on one of the shelves in particular, and while we can see there is clearly a shelf above this one the camera remains focused just on this one for the moment. On the shelf, sitting in the middle of the shot, is what appears to be a version of the SCW Women’s Championship. From behind the camera we hear the familiar voice of Syren as she starts to speak. “I’ve been thinking a lot about life just recently. I’ve been thinking about the things we want out of life. I’ve been thinking about dreams, and making those dreams into reality. And I’ve been thinking about how difficult that is, how much work it takes, how much determination it takes, and the probabilities of it actually happening,” she explains before letting out a happy little sigh. “It made me think about this. What you’re looking at right now is the SCW Women’s Championship. It’s not the title currently held by Dawn Lohan. It’s a replica. It’s a replica that has a proud place in my home and I look at it often. It reminds me of the past, it reminds me how I got to where I am today, and it reminds me of the luck I had to have along the way. The probability of anyone holding that title is low. When you’re sitting at home, on a couch, watching the shows on TV, the probability that you’ll make it, that SCW will even notice you, is almost non-existent.”
She laughs at that thought. “The woman who raised me told me recently that when I put my mind to it I wouldn’t let anything stop me from getting what I want. And I was determined, a long time ago, to get my hands on that title. She was right though; I didn’t let anything stop me. The probability that I’d make it was next to nothing, but I didn’t let that stop me. I pushed forward in spite of everything. I worked my hardest. I explored every possibility. I gave my all to every situation. I never gave up. And in the end…” she says before giggling a little, her voice extremely proud as she finishes her thought. “In the end I overcame every challenge that stood in front of me and I achieved what I wanted. But I didn’t stop there. I kept pushing forward. I kept working hard. I didn’t just want to get there; I wanted to be the best once I was there. I wanted to fight every challenge. I wanted to overcome every obstacle. I wanted to keep pushing forward, to keep proving myself, and again and again I defied the probabilities. For me the SCW Women’s title was proof of the fact that I was capable of defying probability, but there’s something else that represents defying probability, and expectation, even more than that. You know what that is, don’t you? I mean, do you know what the expectation was for a team of two women to hold the World Tag Team Championships in 2010?”
She moves the camera up and we see the shelf above the Women’s title, where we see a replica of the SCW World Tag Team Championship sitting proudly. “I’ll tell you, shall I? It was non-existent. There was no expectation for two women holding the World Tag Team Championships, because before Dark Fantasy it hadn’t been done. But we wanted it. We worked hard for it. We dedicated ourselves to it. And we achieved it,” she says with pride once again before moving up a little more to the next shelf, where we see a replica of the SCW World Championship. “And do you know the expectation of this? Do you know the probability that a little blonde girl with a dream would ever raise this title over her head in 2012 was? Ok, I was the third woman to do it, but the probability was still exceptionally low, and the number of people telling me I couldn’t do it was insanely high. But I wanted it. I worked hard for it. And I never gave up. I defied probability once again, something I’ve been doing my entire career. Now it doesn’t take a genius to figure out where I’m going with this, does it? This Saturday night is the Trios Tournament, the one time of the year where making your dreams come true IS possible, where defying the odds against all probability is the name of the game, and where standing up to the expectation of those against you is the only way you’re able to push yourself forward. It’s my favourite time of the year, and not just because of my past.”
“I could start talking about the past, about the Trios Tournaments of old, but we all know that that doesn’t make any difference going into this Saturday, just like everything you’ve seen on these shelves doesn’t make any difference going into this Saturday either,” she says, turning the camera around to point at herself before patting her chest with her free hand. “This is the only thing that matters this Saturday. Heart. Determination. Courage. That’s what makes the difference heading into situations like this. Because for one group of three Saturday night is going to be a night they never forget. For one group of three Saturday night is going to be a night where they give their all, they fight with everything they have, and they emerge at the end with the golden ticket in their hands. This Saturday night isn’t about teamwork. This Saturday night isn’t about partnerships. This Saturday night isn’t about statistics, or expectations. This Saturday night is about dreams! This Saturday night, for twenty-four different wrestlers, is about their one chance to give everything they have to fight for their chance to make their wildest dream come true, and as a woman who knows a little something about that let me tell you from first-hand experience that victory this Saturday night will change your life, but only for three of you…”
“I know people are looking at their teams right now, assessing their chances, looking at their opponents, talking smack about how much better they are, talking down to their teammates and telling them to ‘fall in line’ and ‘follow their lead’, because you know it’s the same thing that happens every year. But for all you guys doing this, for guys claiming they’ll ‘single-handedly lead their team to glory’ or whatever, what you guys need to realise is that you’re approaching this all wrong,” she says with an amused smile. “Take it from someone who knows, and someone who’s done all of those things in the past. You know I’ve been the bitch who told her teammates that they didn’t matter to her and that they should do what she says because she knows better. I’ve been the girl who got told to fall in line and do as she’s told. I’ve tried to guess my chances. I’ve tried to assess a team’s weaknesses. I’ve done all those things and hey, I’m not saying they’re not valid ways of looking at this tournament because they are, and to each their own, right? But to those of you who’ve already decided what you’re going to do with the prize – and especially to those of you who’ve decided to continue the new tradition of using that contract for the biggest, grandest match of the year – let me remind you again what that contract is really all about.”
“That contract is a golden ticket to a ride you’re not possibly ready for. That contract is a golden key that unlocks the lock in any door in front of you. And right now you’re all imagining what you’d do with that key, what door you’d unlock, but what you need to be asking yourselves is are you ready for what you find on the other side? Like I said, it’s a ticket for a ride you’re not possibly ready for, because while you can look at that contract as the greatest of gifts, it’s also a curse,” she says, nodding her head again. “You don’t believe me? Ask Jake Starr. Ask Christy Matthews. Ask Kelcey Wallace. And yah, ask me! You see that contract lets you make whatever match you want, it gives you any opportunity you can imagine, but it doesn’t win the match for you. Now those three I just mentioned used their contracts on the biggest match they could imagine, the main event of Rise to Greatness, and they all failed. Me, on the other hand? My first time around I used my contract on the biggest match I could imagine as well. That match was a Fatal Four Way match where if I won I’d have proven every one of the doubters wrong, I’d have settled scores with three enemies on the same night, and I’d have accomplished the one thing I wanted more than anything else. Or at least the thing I thought I wanted. And I failed. I lost. I got beat in the middle of the ring. I gambled it all, and I lost…”
“But that didn’t stop me coming back for more. That didn’t stop me trying all over again. That didn’t stop me giving everything I had a second time around. It didn’t stop me dreaming. Last year I wasn’t part of the Trios Tournament, I got to sit at ringside and call the action though, but this year I’m back and I’m dreaming again. I know what I want. We all know what I want by now, don’t we? And this Saturday night I can dream about achieving that, I can dream about making my match, I can dream about getting what I want… but can I really hope to accomplish that?” she asks before smiling and shrugging her shoulders. “That’s what we’re going to find out, isn’t it? We know it won’t be easy. Then again nothing worth doing ever is. And while I’m not going to stand here and do all the clichéd things when it comes to my opponents and my partners, I can’t help but smile a little at the fact that of all the partners in all the matches I got drawn with Angelica Jones. What are the chances? I mean the chances were good I’d get drawn on a team with someone I didn’t like, or someone who didn’t like me, but after everything that’s happened recently between Dark Fantasy and the ‘Sisterhood’ what are the chances that Angelica and I would end up as partners? I’ll tell you this, it certainly doesn’t make anything easier.”
“That’s the thing about this tournament though, it’s one of the more magical aspects of it, because no matter how you feel about a partner, no matter what difference you’ve had in the past, or what differences you will have in the future, on Saturday night all that stops. On Saturday night you put everything aside to get the job done because on Saturday night you only get ONE chance. That’s it. Just one. But that’s still one more than most people are ever going to get,” she says, nodding her head. “Being in this tournament, being here at all, means we’ve already overcome the odds in ridiculous ways, some of us even more than others. And in this tournament this year it’s littered with former World Champions, former United States Champions, former Tag Team Champions, and even former Trios Tournament winners. We all know what it means to face down the odds. We all know what it means to overcome in the most unlikely of scenarios. But this Saturday you’ve got to go even further. You know how it works, right? To win this thing you fight three times in one night. One loss and you’re gone. One mistake and your whole team are finished. But for each team in the first round they get to move on to the semi-finals, and for the winning two teams a clash with one another with the finish line in sight. It’s high pressure every moment, and non-stop excitement.”
“If you guys have never seen a Trios Tournament before, if you’re new to SCW or you’ve simply not had the chance to catch one in the past, then tune in this Saturday to watch an experience unlike any other! And if you have seen a tournament before then I already know you’re doing anything you can to watch this Saturday. You’re makes excuses to work, if you’ve got to work. You’re booking the day off and making sure the fridge is full of beer. You’re inviting over friends and loved ones and gathering around the TV. And you’re dreaming of what could happen if your favourite makes it through each round. But let me promise you that everyone in those matches will be dreaming too,” she says with a nod and a smile. “Do you want to know how big the dream is? It’s big enough to bring former legends out of retirement because THEY dream about their name being on the ticket, THEY dream about the key being in THEIR hands to open any door… and so does everyone else. It’s a contract for a shot at redemption. It’s a chance to get the rematch they never let you have. It’s a chance for a legend to get one last chance at proving he’s still got what it takes. For newcomers it’s a chance to write their name in SCW history. For veterans it’s a chance to get another chance at the one thing you want the most. But for all of us it’s a chance to fight hard and to dream big.”
“One team this Saturday has the key put in each of their hands. You get to decide when to unlock the door, but when you step through then it’s all on you. And this Saturday for one person they’ve got the door unlocked already, and they’re about to see if they can add their name to the list of those who’ve struck it big, or struck out. I think we’re all going to have our eyes on that match as well this Saturday, whether you’re in the finals or you’re knocked out in the first round, because Lucas’ Trios Contract cash-in this Saturday shows us what is possible, but imagine being in that situation. Imagine waiting a year. Imagine waiting a full year for that opportunity to cash in your contract. Imagine the pressure on you then to deliver, or know you’ve waited a year for nothing,” she says with a knowing look in her eyes. “And that pressure is the downside of that contract. It’s the downside of being able to open that door. There aren’t many who can deal with it. This Saturday night we find out if Lucas can, and we find out who’s going to be next to give it a shot. And if that’s not enough of a reason for you guys to tune in then what about this? This Saturday night could redefine the face of Supreme Championship Wrestling for the next year. This Saturday night you not only find out who the World Champion is going to be come Breakdown, but you could be watching the next three pay per view main events made in one night!”
“You guys know how big this is. You guys know what’s on the line. Twenty-four individuals are walking into Madison Square Garden this Saturday night – the Garden, the Mecca, the World’s Most Famous Arena – and only three get to walk away with smiles on their faces. I’m not going to promise you I’ll be one of them. That would be a ridiculous promise to make. But I will make one promise: I’m going to give everything I’ve got. I’m going to scrap with everything inside me. I’m going to scratch. I’m going to claw. And I’m going to fight! We all are. But there’s no standout team this year. There’s no sure-fire pick. Every match has unique combinations. Every team is going to face the ultimate test. And for one team the doors will open… so let’s find out who that is, shall we?” she says before smiling. “For me personally I’ve already alluded to the fact that there’s something I want. That thing? The main event spot at Retribution! The chance to fight for the World Championship. The chance to raise it over my head once again. The chance to call myself a four-time World Champion. This Saturday night I can get the key to the door. But I know what I’m up against. So guys, this Saturday night I know where you’ll be. If you’re not inside Madison Square Garden you’ll be at home with your eyes glued to every moment. And this Saturday night you know where I’ll be: inside The Mecca giving all I’ve got and hoping that at the end of the night I’m the one standing in the ring with the contract in hand and twenty-one others left to BE TOTALLY JEALOUS!”
She smiles playfully before kissing the camera lens. With that the video comes to a close and we fade out to black with the replay button flashing up on the screen.
