The video begins and we see a queue of fans all in SCW shirts outside a building. It looks like they’re queuing to get inside an event. The camera films them all as they chant ‘SCW’ loudly and after a few seconds the short scene fades to black. It then starts again inside a hotel room where Zoe Sperling stands in front of the camera. The hotel room is nondescript in most ways but the former two-time World, Women’s and World Tag Team Champion certainly isn’t, dressed in a tight fitting pink shirt with her winged heart logo on the front and a very short black skirt she waves the camera before grinning a little. “Hey everyone,” she says happily before turning toward the window of the hotel room. “Well, it’s been a bit of a ride this month but we’re here. Brooklyn, New York. And people are excited. You can feel the electricity in the air. There are wrestling fans all over this city, there are wrestling events all over this city with wrestlers showing up to sign autographs, pose for photographs and even just to talk with the fans, to exchange stories and create memories and it’s an amazing atmosphere. I went to an autograph signing this morning and the queue just to get in stretched around the block and it was incredible! Thank you guys so much for all the kind words, the presents, the pictures, just everything. This is the reason that I love pay per view weekends though, just for the energy that surrounds it, and there are few more special than this one. Double-Shot Weekend, formerly Riding the Lighting Weekend, this year consisting of Battle in Brooklyn and Heaven Knows, and heaven knows that I need a battle anywhere, especially in Brooklyn tonight! I need a fight right now to get so much frustration out of my system, but also to prove a point or two, because I think I have a lot of critics to answer right now.”

“That’s why I’m psyched about tonight. That’s why I’m pumped up about Battle in Brooklyn tonight and Heaven Knows tomorrow from the World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden. And it’s why I wanted to talk a little bit more about something I said in my last video a few days ago. You see I care a great deal about my career. I care a great deal not just about championship belts, not just about being able to say that I was a two time this or a three time that, not just to say that I held one title for this long or another title for that long, but I care about EVERY match. I’m a very bad loser in that regard. I don’t like when I lose, and I don’t like when teams I’m supporting are losing. If you ever go to the Staples Center when the Kings are playing and I’m watching them you’ll know it because I’m one of the girls right up the front, not in the sky boxes, banging on the glass and SCREAMING at the players that they’re doing it wrong even though I’ll be honest, I couldn’t coach a hockey team if my life depended on it,” she says with a laugh and roll of her eyes. “Still, everyone’s an expert from the stands, right? Everyone knows what people should have done in hindsight, don’t they? And the reason I bring this up, the reason I bring up the Kings especially – they lost last night, fucking terrible as well, 6-3? That’s just embarrassing, but anyway – is that I spoke before about sitting in the stands with my brother, about watching them when I was younger and how fired up they’d get for the really big games. You could see it as well. You could see it in the eyes of the players, you could hear it in the roar of the crowd, when the really big games came along that place exploded with energy and it fed all the way down to those players. Sometimes it got so loud you couldn’t even hear yourself think...”

She smiles, clearly at a good memory, before shaking her head and snapping back in to the moment. “But that was the big matches. That was the really epic nights. And you see the same thing with sports teams all over the world. It’s so easy for them to get pumped up for the big nights, but when the struggling teams come along, when the teams who are scrapping, who are fighting for their positions, who are fighting to prove something, when THEY come along and everyone thinks it’ll be an easy night, those are the nights that we see upsets. Those are the nights where the opposing players are just that little bit faster, where the passing is just that little bit more lax, and what should have been a sure thing turns in to a serious doubt. Those are the kinds of nights that can define seasons though, because you lose too many of those games and suddenly the big ones don’t matter so much, suddenly you’re fighting for your place at even getting in to the playoffs at all, let alone getting one of the better seeds. And what most people don’t realise is that wrestling isn’t so different to hockey, or football, or anything else in that regard, because wrestling isn’t only about the big nights either,” she says with a smile. “I mean those are the nights you remember, sure. Those are the nights that go in the highlight packages. Those are the nights that set your career apart, just like those nights on the ice in the Staples Center, but you start losing the smaller matches, the matches where you’re the favourite, the matches where you’re expected to win, and then you see your spot slowly slipping away. How many have we seen that happen to? How many stars have we seen over the years slowly slip down the rankings, former champions who wanted so much to get another shot but found it increasingly further and further away with every loss...”

“My dream right now is to get another shot,” she says with pride. “Everyone knows that. Everyone knows how much I want it. Ok, so maybe I don’t fill Twitter with rants about how it should be mine, but then I don’t fill Twitter with much of anything. What I do instead is I go out to the middle of that ring and I fight and I win. In 2014 that’s been my mission statement. I started this year in horrible form. I’d lost tag matches, I’d lost Elimination Chambers, I’d lost on pay per view, I was struggling. I was losing the sense of who I was. And I kept hoping for it to turn around. I kept hoping for some miracle to happen, but of course it didn’t. You don’t get handed anything in this business. That’s the first lesson I learned when I walked through the door, you don’t get HANDED anything in this business. And then 2014 came along and I made promises. I promised things would change. I promised I’d fight my way back. And I fought Devon Kayl, and I got my hand raised. I fought Merrick Wiseman, and I got my hand raised. I fought Aiken Frost on pay per view and I got my hand raised. I fought the demon who everyone wanted to fight and I beat him, and then I beat Ghost and I earned my way in to the Trios Tournament, and then Matt Auclair, and three matches in one night in the Trios Tournament, and Collin Cole, and Thirteen, and Tommy Valentine, and along the way yeah I got beat by Rachel Frost and that sucked, but I picked myself up and I kept going. I gave every single thing I had not just for the big matches, not just for the high profile opponents but EVERY TIME I was in that ring because I don’t take people lightly, I don’t relax when they say I should be the favourite, I go in to every match with the same fire, the same determination, the same desire that at the end the referee will raise MY hand and my music will be playing.”

“Tonight I step in to the ring in a match that the experts in the business say I should win,” she says with a nod. “And tomorrow, I step in to another match where the experts think I should win. On paper, I’m the favourite. On paper, I’m the more accomplished star. So I’ve got an easy weekend, right? No. This is Supreme Championship Wrestling; there are no ‘easy’ matches in this company and you want to know how I know that? Because a few years ago, before I won the one-night number one contendership tournament, before Ravyn Taylor and me captured our second World Tag Team Championship and went on to hold that title for more than six hundred days, before any of that happened guys like Shilo Valiant, guys like Greg Cherry, guys like Shawn Winters, girls like Katie Steward, they had their name drawn on the card against mine and THEY were the ones who were considered the favourites. They were the Penguins, they were the Rangers, they were the Ducks, and me? I was the Sabres. They all looked down at me back then. They all looked down their noses at me and thought that I didn’t matter. I was just the Women’s Champion, right? I was nobody. They were the favourites going in to the match and they were going to wipe the floor with me. Ask them how well that worked out for them. Ask every single one of them how well it worked out when they told me I wasn’t good enough, that I wasn’t in their league. And when you’re on your way up, you’ve got everything to prove. This weekend William Mason and Jessica Howell have everything to prove! They’re the underdogs and I’m the favourite, and my job is supposed to be to tell them that they’ll never beat me, that I’m ‘untouchable’. I’ve heard that word a lot. I’ve heard people tell me they were untouchable. Those people don’t say that to me anymore!”

“William and Jessica are coming for me this Saturday. They’re both looking for the same wins I was, and I know how they feel. I know the fire inside them both have right now. They’re looking at this opportunity, at this chance, and they’re thinking that if they beat me then they’ll springboard themselves up, that they’ll get the spotlight, that they’ll become contenders just like I did, right? And that’s what we all want. We all want our chance to go against the former World Heavyweight Champions, we all want our chance to break in to the main event, we all want to see the money on our paycheques increase, to feel the roar of the fans get louder as we get closer to the big titles, the big opportunities, the main events... believe me guys, that thing you’re fighting for? It’s worth it. In the five years I’ve been a part of this company there has been no better feeling than that thing you’re fighting for. To get there, to get to that level, to walk in to not only the big matches but the MAIN EVENTS of the biggest shows, it’s amazing. However good you think it could be, let me promise you that that’s only half as good as it actually feels! But here’s the problem. When you get to that level, when you hear those fans roaring the way they do and chanting your name, it’s addictive,” she says before nodding her head slowly. “When you get it once, you want it again. When you get it again, you want it a third time. You never stop wanting it. You never get bored of it. That feeling, that feeling of knowing that you’re at the top, that it’s YOUR name on the banners, that it’s YOUR face on the posters, you can never get enough of that. That’s the dream. That’s everything we fight for. And as much as you two long to experience it for the first time, I will do whatever it takes to get that feeling back again!”

“That’s why I can’t afford any slip ups. I’m not competing for points, I’m not risking finishing bottom of any league standings, but in professional wrestling there are no playoffs to fight for. In professional wrestling there’s only ONE spot you’re fighting for, and second place doesn’t get you a goddamn thing! So I’m the favourite. I’m the one walking in to these matches with everything to lose. And you’re the underdogs. You’re the ones looking to take from me what I want more than anything. Do you want me to look down on you? Do you want me to tell you that you don’t deserve to face me? I won’t. I won’t duck from either one of you. I won’t hide. Ask William about that. Ask William if I ducked and ran when he decided to jump me in the back. I didn’t. He knocked me down, I got back on my feet and told him to bring it on, and he blinked. He jumped me in the ring, I got back to my feet and I told him to bring it on, and he blinked. Tonight William, tonight I’m going to be STANDING in that ring, right in the middle of the Barclays Center with NINETEEN THOUSAND people chanting my name and booing you out of the building. You wanted this, right? You wanted to see if you could do what Thirteen couldn’t. You wanted to take on Syren. You wanted to fight me in the ring and beat me, right? Well BRING. IT. ON! This is what you wanted, this is your chance, don’t hold back now. You went on Twitter and you told the world how you had a new purpose, how you were going to beat the ‘Best Women’s Wrestler in the World’ – seriously sweetie, read the merchandise occasionally, would you? I’m not the ‘Best Women’s Wrestler in the World’, I’m the BEST FEMALE WRESTLER IN THE WORLD, and I’m on a quest to prove that I’m just simply the BEST – and now the time has come and it’s time for you to put up or shut up.”

“I’ve listened to you for a long time. You’re the kind of asshat who tells the world that he doesn’t care about the title he just lost, and then whines when the champion doesn’t defend it. You’re the kind of selfish little douche who turns their backs on injured teammates and former friends because they can no longer help you out. Well tonight William I’m going to show you what that gets you. Every person you’ve turned your back on, I’m going to beat you for them. Every teammate you stabbed in the back, I’m going to beat you for them. Every fan you’ve ever disrespected, every promoter you’ve discarded and every wrestler you’ve EVER disrespected, I’m going to beat you for ALL of them! You see the statistics might say that you’re an easy opponent, the experts might say that I’m the favourite and conventional wisdom may tell you that that means I’m going to go in to this easy, but I’m not letting you off easy,” she says before grinning at the camera and looking down at her shirt before pointing to the logo on the front. “You see this? Pretty, right? Yah, I was way happy with how it came out. I mean, I’m not exactly the best artist ever, but I’ve got friends who helped me add the finishing touches. You know what this is, right William? It’s a heart. It’s a heart with an S cut out of it. The S is for Syren, obviously, but the heart? I chose that because that’s the one thing that’s been true about me from day one in this business. I chose that because that’s the one thing that I’ve ALWAYS displayed, no matter what the situation. There are guys in this business who are bigger than me. There are girls in this business who are tougher than me. There are wrestlers in the back who are stronger than me. But there is NOBODY IN THIS BUSINESS who has more heart for it than I do!”

“So tonight William, like I said before, BRING IT ON! You’re the one who started this. You’re the one who picked a fight with me. You’re the one who went out of his way to try and hurt me, to kick me when I was already feeling down, and then went even further out of his way to mock me and tell the world that he was going to beat me. Well here I am, come and back up your words. I told you last time how long I’ve known you, I told you last time my opinions of you and they haven’t changed. You stand for nothing in this company William, and you’re going to fall to me tonight! And when it’s over, when I’m standing over you with my hand raised and nineteen thousand people cheering I want you to stop, before you leave the ring, and take a long look around because that is what this business is all about. It isn’t about sneak attacks, it isn’t about trying to hurt people, it isn’t about blood or violence or gore, it’s about two competitors going toe to toe until one of them emerges victorious, and tonight I will be that one and after I am, just remember all your threats and how far they got you because I’m sick of people like you jumping me from behind,” she says before letting out a long sigh. “And after tonight, no matter what happens, no matter how beaten up I feel, I’m headed to New York, I’m competing in Madison Square Garden – the same building I’ve fought in so many times, the same building I retained my World Heavyweight Championship in before – and I’m expecting a very different match, with a very different opponent with all the same passion and all the same drive. I said it before, I’ll say it again, you don’t get many people who’ll walk up and challenge you. You don’t get many people who’ll ask for an opportunity. But if you look back over my career I’ve NEVER been one to duck from those moments, I mean Jake Starr and Greg Cherry spring to mind.”

“You’re an amazing girl Jessica. You’re a great competitor. You’ve already come a long way from the person you started out as, and I hope you go a lot further. I’m not saying this for any other reason than because I mean it. Whatever you think about me, whoever your friends are, whoever you want to train you for this match it doesn’t bother me, none of that changes the way I see you, but like I already said I can’t afford any slip ups. This weekend is another opportunity for me, an opportunity to prove that I belong at the top of this business, an opportunity to make every single person on the Board of Directors, everyone in the back and even Mr Douche himself stand up and take notice. It’s the same for you, I know that, and the truth is that if you beat me this Sunday, as much as I hate losing, then I’ll be the first one to shake your hand. But I don’t want that to happen. I can’t let that happen. Rise to Greatness is right around the corner and I want in on the main event. I want to walk out in Marlin’s Park in Miami, Florida and on to the biggest stage with one goal and that’s to compete for the SCW World Heavyweight Championship and walk out of the main event with that championship over my shoulder. That’s why I’ve trained harder. That’s why I’ve focused even more. That’s why this weekend I can’t slip up, I won’t slip up. It’s why this weekend I plan to stand tall,” she says, purposefully standing up almost in a military style before grinning at the camera again. “And that’s why this weekend I have every intention of walking in to the Barclays Center tonight and Madison Square Garden tomorrow and stealing the show not once but TWICE! Two opportunities for me, two opportunities for two opponents, one goal coming out of it! If you like me, cheer me. If you hate me, boo me. But I promise whether you’re a fan or not if I get what I want then all William Mason or Jessica Howell will be able to do is shake my hand or BE TOTALLY JEALOUS!”

She steps forward and kisses the lens of the camera again before skipping back a few steps as the video fades out and the replay button flashes up on the screen.

Ok, so how many other people have said that exact thing this weekend? Probably loads. Super true though. Double Shot Weekend starts tonight, and I plan to leave with two wins. Wish me luck or don't, but just make sure you watch, I promise it'll be worth it.
